Many people do not develop any symptoms when they first become infected with HIV. Some people, however, get a flu-like illness within three to six weeks after exposure to the virus. This illness, called Acute HIV Syndrome, may include fever, headache, tiredness, nausea, diarrhea and enlarged lymph nodes (organs of the immune system that can be felt in the neck, armpits and groin). These symptoms usually disappear within a week to a month and are often mistaken for another viral infection.
If you have any of these symptoms, see a doctor and get yourself checked out. It's better to know than to wonder.

Listen, This is M Y life so don't listen to those 'medical' answers that you can hardly understand.
I try to live my life normally there is NOTHING wrong with me. and I'm just. . . normal. I just have 1 more opsticle in life.
Well, when I first got it I wasn't sure what it was exactly.
My parents, Teachers and Relatives never really talked about it. So it will be easier for you if you know WHAT your up against.
I was a heroin addict and I was having s3x with a few different guys.[wasn't in a relationship with any]. When I got it I wasn't sure exactly when or where I got it.So just make sure you warn people.
The first signs were fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat, and a rash. I thought it was the flu but then one of the men I was sleeping with told me he had it and I should get tested.
My mom found out one day when she was cleaning my room and 24 hours later I was kicked out of my home.
I moved to NYC. I've been living with the disease for 2 years now.
It's terrible and i'm not going to lie to you. If you have money you can afford better medication than so it might be different.
But, I have to take medication every 4 hours on a beeper. There are times the disease takes over my life. Like when someone asks me out its always the thought "I can never get intament'",or when I'm out in the cold it's always "Get home or you'll get sick", or even when Im home.
When you get sick it's about 3 times worse than if you didn't have HIV. Right now I've had a 'common cold' for 2 weeks.
The worst part is. . . Im not sure if im going to surive this. I've had that thought numerous times.
My boyfriend has HIV too. I met him and he pushed me away. And he's broken up with me many times complaining that he 'can't take the pain'. He doesn't want either of us to feel the pain of either of us dying. So if your in a relationship DO NO PUSH AWAY. It's the worst thing you can do.
I've just gotten clean from a 3 year addiction to heroin so my body is still not as strong as it could be.So this may be VERY different.
Now that it's the 21st century there are better ways to deal. Especially if you have the money to spend on medical bills. Something that has helped me is meetings with people who are experiencing the same thing.
One thing my best friend who died a month ago of AIDS told me "Don't let this rule your life,This is all the more reasons to LIVE." She never let it rule her life and she died happy.
So my advice for you is to just love everyone and everything that is special in your life. Its just one more opsticle.

Signs and symptoms are very broad. Look at previous answers. I just wanted to say that HIV/AIDS in not a death sentence. It can be controlled with the newer meds which more and more are being developed.
Know your status. Remember you can test neg for up to six months after contracting the virus, so get repeat testing until you are past this threshold.

Wow such intelligent answers....asshats
Many people don't have any early symptoms of HIV, but when they do it often feels like the flu, with things like fever, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, and joint pain. Some patients get a skin rash, along with abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
If you think you or someone you know may be infected with HIV you should get tested as soon as possible. There are many places that offer HIV testing anonymously.

My adult son has HIV. When his Ct4 count goes down about 50 points, he will have AIDS. The hard evidence is in the numbers. When the numbers for the Ct4 count reach a certain number, the patient is considered to have AIDS.

One of the most common questions spouses ask when confronting a marriage crisis is this: How can I save my marriage if my partner doesn't want to help find a solution? How do I succeed I am trying to save my marriage on my own? Learn here https://tr.im/RVTtE
It is a typical enough story: one partner leaves, the other stays. One remains 'in love', the other is uncertain. Whatever it is that has caused a couple to be apart, the one person who remains bears the prospect, fear, doubt, desire, hope of saving his or her marriage' alone.

You cant really tell you got it, when you have it things are normal, it's not really evident that you have it until you start having other stuff happen. Your immune system breaks down and lets all kinds of other stuff come in, that's when you start to notice.
