Currently, smoking is legal if you are over the age of 16. Right now it may seem like the thing to do because your friends are all smoking. It may make you look "bad" and you may feel like a rebel while you are smoking. Believe it or not, smoking is bad for you. I have had young people on life support because of smoking. I have watched people gasping for their last breath because of smoking. Right when they started I'll bet they were saying "I want to smoke now, I'll quit later..." Later became later. They got emphysema from smoking and still couldn't quit. People who smoke...they will die sooner then they should have. They will be suffocating to death. Please don't let my words fall on deaf ears. Smoking will rob you of a life that you could have had, but can't once the lungs won't let you. I have been a Respiratory Therapist for 17 years now. I have seen people who's dreams will no longer come true. Smoking is not good for you, it will be the death of you.

Yes, It's a person's "right" to smoke, but there are some conditions. For instance, you have to be of legal age, smokers are restricted as far as where you can and cannot smoke, and if you have a job, you're only allowed to smoke at designated times.
Having said that, i would seriously recommend against it. I'm a ex-smoker, and it's a really hard habit to quit. I understand why you want to smoke now, but trust me, someday you're gonna want to quit and it's gonna be a pain in the @ss.

You may consider it a right for you to do what you want, but in the process, you are polluting the air of people who believe it is their right to NOT breathe your stinky air. You sound young and immature, and most of us were smokers when we were young and immature, myself included. But one day I realized that it made me stink, made me cough and breathe weird, cost too much money, and would probably kill me. People who still smoke despite the warnings are asking to die. Would you walk onto the highway right now and risk getting run over? Than why smoke? Why not just kill yourself now and save the suspense? I'm tired of people thinking smoking is a right, it's not. Its a dumb habit and I've chosen to not be around people because of it.

Of course your mother doesn't want you to smoke, but it's your choice. It doesn't matter where you live, she still cares about you.

Don't get angry at your mom...as much as you have a right to smoke, she has a right to not like it if you do.

:)

Yes, it is a human right. It is also very dangerous and can cause cancer. It is our human right to not have to pay for the results of your decision.

You live by the house rules. Until you are old enough to own the house and make the rules, suck it up and deal with them.

Since you don't live with your mom anymore, it is ok for you to smoke. It isn't against the law for you to smoke. Your mom don't want you to die of cancer because smoking do cause lung cancer. It is your life and tell your mom that you enjoy smoking. She will stop nagging you.

Yes, I am a smoker, and I would be very angry if my mother still thought she had any say in whether or not I did it, even as I wa not living with her anymore. Do what you want, kid. Its not good for you, but it's your life. I only wish I could quit!!
