When at home keep a pot of boiling water on the stove to put moisture in the air. Buy a humidifier to keep in your bedroom when sleeping at night. Sounds like you just need to have more moisture in the air. This will help alot.

Tea with honey is a temporary remedy. I had a problem years ago and was prescribed a cough syrup with codine, the only thing that worked for me.

Amaretto, straight up, sip slowly. Enjoy!
(I am not kidding.)
A dry cough may be due to not taking in enough liquids. Make sure to drink more water or hot tea than you want, in order to hydrate yourself. That should help the cough loosen up. If not, there's always Amaretto!

Have you seen your doctor?
But still, take a spoonful of honey and mix it with the juice of a lemon, take it once a day. And stay away from cold beverages.
Hope this helps.
