A stroke occurs in the brain: stoppage of blood flow to brain: a sudden blockage or rupture of a blood vessel in the brain resulting in, e.g. loss of consciousness, partial loss of movement, or loss of speech
A heart attacks occurs in the heart: damage to heart: a sudden, serious, painful, and sometimes fatal interruption of the heart's normal functioning, especially due to a blockage in the coronary artery

A stroke happens when blood is cut off to the brain (usually when a piece of blood clot gets dislodged and then stuck in a artery)
A heart attack happens when the heart is overworked and goes into either arrest or an irregular beat pattern.
Both make for a bad day!

A stroke is generally caused by a blod clot that cuts off blood within the brain. Another type of stroke, like the one I had, is the veins constrict to the point of cutting off the blood flow in the brain. Vasculitis.
A heart attack is a malfunction of a person's heart muscle. Be it by build up restricting the blood flow into the heart (congestive heart failure), or a defective or failing valve inside the heart, etc etc.

Both occur through blockages.
A stroke is when the brain is deprived of oxygen, usually brought on by a rupture blood vessel in the brain (aneurism)or to blood clots. Heart attacks occur due to a blockage of the blood flow to the heart, usually due to cholesterol. Usually this is the case, as there are a host of diseases that affect the heart causing heart attacks. (My little brother was a freshman Varsity football player and had a heart attack on the field. He lived, but we found out he had a congential heart disorder.)
