She's very close. A low temp like that would indicate that labor is close.

Possibly your dog's normal temp was lower then most to start with? "Normal" temp in dogs, cats, and people etc are just the usual, many have normal temps that are higher or lower than most of their species. A call to your vet would be a good idea. Most vets want a heads up on about when the female will whelp.

You have about 24 hours before she gives birth . Hope you are prepared. You will need a pair of sharp scissors to cut umbilical cords if need be Lots of newspaper, clean towels ,whelping box, vet phone and emergency vets number by the phone. You need to have a box and a heating pad ready to put the pups when your mother dog is delivering another pup (sometimes they start going in circles and step on the pups so you need a safe place for the other pups) Good luck

when the temp drops to about there it's a sign the pups should be coming within 24 hours.
I myself don't like space heaters to much of a chance of mom or pups being burned. If you don't have a heating pad try getting some jars fill with very hot water and wrap in a towel and put pups right against fot the heat.
Also to keep out drafts if you have to for some reason seperate them from mom put a towel or blaanket over the box this willhelp keep the heat in.
I'm just curious if you don't mind what kind of dog and are they purebred. Don;t worry I don't and won't look down if they aren't purebreds. I'm just curious as I love all dogs.
