I heard about this too...
carmine and cochineal beetles for red stuff.
ughh I had some strawberry yogurt a while back,
one of those big containers all to myself,
ughh its in 'good and plenty' too damnit...
Whats wrong with these people?
I think they have to list that it contains the two
though now, but I don't think they have to say
its pure bug juice.

Red 40 is actually not from bugs, but from coal tar (equally disgusting, but evidently vegan). If you see confectioner's glaze or food glaze on your food, that's probably from insects. Some resinous glazes are veg and some are not, but it behooves you to ask the manufacturer.
