I do because to be expected to give 10% of our annual earnings is too much and makes people poor.

First, its tithing, not tilting.
Second, no. The church cannot function without funding. Do the right thing, and support the institution that supports you. The church will not force you out if you don't provide 10% of your annual income, they just ask for a donation to support their functions. If you use the church, put back into it. Selfishness is disgraceful.

No, not at all. I respectfully disagree with you.

Giving 10% of what already belongs to God in the first place is not too much to ask.

Do you even give 10%?

You know, I have to admit the truth. I am a hypocrite. I don't always give my 10%. I have no right to point my finger at you. I do not have the right to judge you. Please forgive me if it seems as if I am wrongfully judging you. I do not mean to give you that impression.

Truth be told, I don't always give with a glad and joyful heart- although the Holy Bible teaches us that we should do so.

Giving 10% of one's income does not make people poor. The environment, the price of gasoline, the costs of healthcare and living in general cause poverty. Not to mention the lack of jobs, drug abuse, alcoholism, addictions, etc.

The least we can do to show God our love and respect is to pay him 10% of our earnings. He has given us life, free will, and countless other blessings that we almost invariably take for granted or otherwise fail to acknowledge.

I love God, and I want to honor him.

The money and everything else in the world belongs to God anyway. As I said before, asking us to give 10% to the Church is not too much to ask.

Besides, if you really do honor God, and you give your tithes with a glad and joyful heart, God will always care for your needs. You will never have to worry about food, clothing, or having a place to live, because God is good, and he will supply those things for you!

Many people employed by churches cannot live on the salaries they earn. If you want the church to pay fair wages to its staff, it has to have the revenue from which to pay those wages (after paying for the heating, electricity, etc.)

Read the definition on tithing and read your BIBLE. The language is in there.
You could always give directly to the office.

You might not have any church service if you didn't support it through donations though. :)

When you are poor anyway. Ten percent is nothing.
