I caculated my correction bolus and took extra insulin for it so it should be going down. when I was diagnosed, it was 691 and I wasn't in a coma.

If you took the insulin to correct it, you should be fine in a few hours. I've had some high numbers due to faulty infusion sets and what not, but soon was back to normal. Keep testing to make sure it is actually going down.

I've seen much higher sugars than that, without the patient slipping into coma. But then the patients I saw had poor control all the time and their body's were accustomed to high levels. If you ordinarily have your blood sugar under control, and it suddenly went up due to illness, then I'd be calling a doctor right now, not waiting for an answer on YA

Get off here and go to the ER...like now. That is way to high, and you are putting your kidneys through an awful lot right now...go get it fixed pronto! You may have no ketones yet...but soon there will be, it takes a moment for your kidney to react...by then there is already damage.

Prolonged high BS can lead to blindness, kindney failure, coma, infection or even death...this is serious stuff!! Please get seen right now!

its possible. one diabetic might go into diabetic coma at 571, while another diabetic might not go into diabetic coma until they're at 630...everyones different.
