....i'm liking the gas one best, but.....to be more specific, it didn't hurt when i took shallow breaths. otherwise it was painful....like if i had to move the diaphragm/chest up or down in any significant way it hurt.......as u can tell i am still alive, but a bit freaked still.....can gas really cause stuff like that? i'm not even 20, and i'd rather not be having heart attacks....

No, different patients have different symptoms, the only relation is that pain in the mid sternal region( i.e centre bone of chest), is increased and patient has difficulty in breathing.
Hope answered your question.

The heart is only slightly off center in your chest, that's why my bypass surgery scar is in the middle of my sternum.

Left side pain is not the heart. Sounds like bruised ribs.

No, pain with inspiration is usually either a respiratory problem or a muscle injury in chest area. Have you done any heavy lifting lately?

Possibly costochondritis or precordial catch syndrome, less likely pneumonia. But any info you gave is just too vague to rule out anything.

Go see a doc.

if you are still here when this answer is recieved, then its probably just gas thats blocked up in your innards waiting to be released, take some pepcid, and sit near an open window

no...heart attack pain isn't changed with differences in your breathing...it never stops...and then you die.
