Nina,
That is not the true message. God does not love all people. God reserves the right to hate certain people. I would direct you to Romans 9 - God does not want everybody. He makes some to show what He wants to show, and will even harden hearts, so that He may show the example of His love to the one's who He does want. If you don't get that out of Romans 9, then what does Romans 9 talk about?

Kevin,
I don't know how you can think that there would be a Gospel without Jesus Christ. People can love each other without being saved.

The true message of the good news is that Lord Jesus Christ is the son of God and he came to redeem us sinners so that we can reconcile back with God. He died on the cross for all our sins and he is our saviour.

That there is a heaven and hell. That God loved his creations more than even the angels in heaven. So man sinned. So God sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for one and all. So that none may die and go to hell. And be seperated from Him. (Because we will live forever. This is just our earthly body) If you call upon His Name you will be saved(if you mean it with all your heart). We will live forever with Him and come back to live on the earth in His new city called New Jerusalum. Where we will live sin free. Forever happy (no more tears, sickness, sorrow , worry etc.) Once you except Jesus as your Savouir you have restored your fellowship with Him.
We have a thing called the A B C's
Admit we are all sinners
Believe that Jesus was God's only Son
Confess your a sinner and Call upon the Name of Jesus to repent from your sin.
I hope i got this right for you.

The true message of the gospel is that God sent His Son Jesus to earth, to pay the price for sin and take man's punishment upon Himself. He was put to death on a cross, where He paid the price for every sin of man. After three days, He rose from the dead, and lives forevermore at the right hand of God, making intercession for us.
When Jesus told His disciples to preach this gospel to all the world, this is exactly what He wanted them to tell people. Not just that He loved them, but that He had given His life, paid for sin, rose from the dead and was alive, having conquered sin and paid the price for man's redemption, and that man now had access to God through faith in His Son.

To spread the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus preached the Kingdom, and so did the apostles. Most people who go to church think it's to bring people to Christ, but the Bible says, no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them, and no man can come to the Father except through the Son. So non of us can save anybody, or bring them to Christ, or any of the things most Christians are so sure they have to do.

Preach the Kingdom of God to the world and then the end.

To fulfill the great commandments and to fulfill the great commission.

Make disciples of all nations, bringing the lost back into the kingdom of God. And that was Jesus' purpose on Earth, to save the sinners. Before Christ's second coming, we ought to also carry on this task and help the lost sheep see the light.

I don't think any of the answers so far quite hit it on the head.

Here's my version: The message of the Gospel is deification of the human person, by means of union with the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, in the Holy Spirit, for the purpose of fulfilling our destiny of glorifying God.

That's a theological mouthful and you could spend the rest of your days unpacking it, but I think it basically means that Jesus shows us what the God-life really is and enables us to become different kind of people: faithful, compassionate, loving, nonviolent -- and rebellious against the warmaking, power hungry rulers of the world.

Edit: Wow, I got 3 thumbs down! I wonder if these folks are reacting against the word 'deification' or the word 'nonviolence'? Or something else? Maybe the notion that being a Christian means being a rebel?

As for 'deification' I can do no better than quote C.S. Lewis:

It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship. . . —C. S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory

The true message of the Gospel is a road map back to the father in heaven, along the way we need to pick up a body and learn how to make good choices. We also need to learn to trust and have faith. If we do not get lost along the way we will find the greatest treasure of all life in heaven with the father.

One has to ADMIT they are a sinner.
For all have come short of God's standard.

One has to believe that God exists.

One has to believe that they need forgiveness, then ask God to forgive them, as God who is Holy, and believe that Jesus died for them, and took the punishment which they deserved, so that they can receive forgiveness.

REPENT - turn away from everything they know to be wrong.

Salvation is a committment of the will, mind and emotions.

One has to confess that Jesus is Lord, believe in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.

There are Two Gospels, which both go ww:
- "this gospel": beginning, of sorrows: law law
- "that gospel": the end of ww sorrows: grace
Both notably go ww, and notably for compare-i-son

Comparing spiritual things(laws) with spiritual(grace)

Grace: I'll never leave you, nor forsake you: Heb 13:5
Law & Law: I'll forget you & I'll forsake you: Jer 23:39

David & Jesus: My God, my God...forsaken: Ps 22 & Mt 27

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
