I think it is as they always win, no matter the odds, they always kill first shot, there is never any "blue on blue" mistakes, and, this is the clincher, there is never any "collateral" damage, i.e. no civilians get killed by the Unit. Seems a total fantasy, like Battlestar Galactica or such.

Don't quite understand the reply from iraq51. Is this an answer? And what has France got to do with the question? The question was about the programme "The Unit" and whether it was intentionally a comedy, since the whole premise of an elite unit that seems to go where it wants to, kills people left, right and centre, leaves no diplomatic options open at all, just seems like it should be a comedy. Maybe it is just a lightweight attempt at morale building, you know, what we call propaganda, but then USA wouldn't do that sort of thing since it ALWAYS tellls the truth, eh?

Not comedy, but it's certainly fantasy.

Comedy No but realistic is also a No. Why would any one watch a television sow and expect reality? JAG was funny because it was so far off from what a JAG really does; investigator's do the investigation and not the JAG Lawyers, they don't get sent thought out the world and into civilian jurisdiction; the former because JAG's are at all major bases and have the responsibility to represent the smaller ones in their areas and military lawyers normally do not practice law in civilian court and not in uniform. Watch a Western-How many times did the "6 shooter" (usually only loaded with 5 bullets for safety) shoot; WW2 movies how many misses period by the good guys and the other guys can't shoot straight ..might hit one of 100. Television and movies are fantasy or colored truth to what the audience wants to see; why worry about it.

In France anytime the good guys actually win it's considered satire, fantasy or unbelievable. Much like the French themselves.

But hey, lighten up. It's only a television show. Good grief.

Their writers have no perception of actual combat operations. Perhaps they should just concentrate on the wives.

Can you say ENTERTAINMENT? If you want a documentary, go watch the HISTORY CHANNEL.
