If you eat foods high in carbs/sugars and then purge will it help lower your blood sugar? Would it make a difference if you are not taking meds/insulin? I realize what all the health issues are with bulimia and that it's never a good idea. I am just curious if anyone knows. This would mostly be in regards to Type 2 diabetes.

Yeah but be sure to eat/toss complex carbs/sugars, they take longer to digest. Simple sugars hit you quicker.

TRUST ME!!!! The last thing you want to do is puke everything you just ate. And you should eat right and take your insulin when most needed. You should also know that type 2 can turn into type 1 and believe me you don't want that. My little brother has type 2 and he controls it with a good healthy diet. He doesn't take his pills anymore because he has no need for them. All you have to do is watch what you eat. Too many carbs and sugars in your diet can cause your blood sugars to rocket sky high. Throwing up won't lower your blood sugars because the minute you swallow your food intake your body starts breaking down the food and distributes the sugars, carbs, fats and proteins thru your body and into your blood stream. And without any insulin in your system to help break down your food, you will always have high blood sugar numbers. Also if you drink plenty of water you can actually flush out any excess sugars in your body.

Actually, eating disorders can make diabetes worse. Remember that you have to balance your blood sugar, too low can be just as bad as too high. You wouldn't want do go there.

for obvious reasons, it's a horrible idea, but if you think about how quickly glucose enters your bloodstream, throwing up the food won't stop your blood sugar from going up, it will literally go up in less than a minute after you start eating

no it won't. you need to make sure that you eat small amounts regularly, and make sure that any carbs you eat are low Gi. it's better to have the same amount of carbs every few hours than to try to trick your body by purging.

No, no, no! You need a precise balance of diet, exercise & meds. Puking your guts out will only make things worse.
