The menu is:

Herb Roasted Chicken
Southern-Style String Beans (with smoked turkey)
Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes

Can anyone recommend a good red and/or a good white wine for this menu?

Thanks.

I just buy whatever's on sale! try out all different wines, but have some other drinks for those who don't like wine.

You have a lovely menu! Here are some suggestions for a nice wine to share with your guests:

For Red Wine Drinkers:

Sangeovese
Zinfandel
Petite Syrah
Merlot

For White Wine Drinkers:

Sauvignon Blanc
Dry Pinot Grigio
Chardonnay

You are serving white meat (chicken) so serving red wine to accompany your dinner would be considered poor etiquette. You may consider a fruited honey wine - called Mead. Redstone makes a great one, if you cannot find that particular label just ask the person at the liquor store. Another choice might be a good chardonnay.

Hope I've helped.

I normally wouldnt recommend chardonnay but I'd go for a single estate South African or US or Aussie chardonnay. For a red I'd go for an Argentinian malbec, it's slightly herby and smoky so will match without being too harsh.
For my money, malbec is the best value and quality red around at the moment sub £20 a bottle.

I would suggest a dry white, perhaps a Chardonnay or for red a red zinfandel. You can get great bottles of each for less than $15.

I would go for a light and fruity sauvignon blanc for the white and a chilean merlot for the red. Can't go wrong with either of those. Enjoy!
