So my mom has been a diabetic for some time now and she has other health issues needing many different medications, often changing, causing her sugar levels to go all over the place. Anyways the biggest concern i have for her is that at times her sugar levels will plummet to even the low 30's. I was wondering if when this happens, what foods are best to bring these levels back to normal instead of overshooting it. Is there anything special for diabetics

It is imperative (extremely important) that you make sure that there are items in the house than be used to treat hypoglycemia.

While many foods or drinks can help, these only work if the person is conscious and able to swallow. Emergency treatments that are available are glucose gel and Glucagon. Glucose gel can be used even if a person is unconscious because you can squeeze some onto your fingertip and rub it into the inside of her mouth (the cheek or gums). Glucose gel can be absorped through the oral mucosa. You would still have to use the whole tube. You can buy it at any drug store. Glucagon is an injectable treatment. Glucagon is a hormone...it stimulates the liver to release it's stored supplies of glucose, raising a person's blood sugar level. It comes in a kit and a prescription is needed to get it. It's very easy to use as it can be injected anywhere (vein or muscle, it doesn't matter). The only downside is that it is known to make people sick...they will often start vomiting so be prepared for that.

Remember...if a person is unconscious from low sugar, YOU NEED TO CALL 911 NO MATTER WHAT TREATMENT YOU GIVE THEM, even if they regain consciousness. I can't stress that enough.

After treating a low sugar episode, it's not uncommon to see a high blood sugar. Whenever a person has a severe low, you should always contact the doctor.

A world exclusive & revolutionary product is here which, I am sure, will be most useful to you.

It is none other than the Amezcua Bio Disc.

A revolutionary natural energy generating device, the Amezcua Bio Disc is the product of technically-engineered natural minerals that have been structurally bonded in glass and are capable of producing scalar energy frequencies. This long-lasting natural scalar resonance has the ability to be transferred to and rejuvenate the molecular structures of all liquids.

It is a new technology that doesn't use medicatioin or pills or drugs or injection. It is a glass disc infused through nano technology and manufactured in Germany. If this product is used within 2-3 months, depending on the severity of the diabetes, the sugar level drops and then there may not be need for medication.

My husband is a diabetic. His Endocrinologist recommended when his blood sugar levels are low to eat 1/2 of a power bar or high protein bar, because it has less sugar than regular soda or orange juice. The doctor said the protein bar would help bring his glucose level up without causing his level to go too high. The protein bar also has protein in it that gives extra strength.

You can find these high protein bars at Wal - Mart or most any drug or food stores.

If your mom is not on a really good diabetic diet, she needs to ask her doctor to send her to a registered diatitian. A diatitian can design a diet especially for your mom that might help regulate her blood glucose and keep it from bottoming out.

My husband and I are both diabetics. He has struggled for years trying to keep his blood glucose under control. We finally found a wonderful Endocrinolist who sent him to a registered diatitian. She made him a great low fat, low carbohydrate diet with plenty of food. His blood glucose has been in control for about a year.

From my experience dealing with my husband's diabetes, I feel that most diabetics simply don't understand exactly what or how much to eat. If a diabetic eats too much or too many carbohydrates, then their blood glucose natually will go out of control; or if they eat too little, or skip meals to try and keep their blood glucose under control, then it will go too low causing them to over eat to bring it back up. Then it is too high again.

I wish your mother the very best of luck. I hope this will help her. Tell her that her Yahoo Answers friend is praying for her that she will find the answers she needs to help her control her blood glucose.

If your Mom is bottoming out with a 30 Glucose level, you have to get it back up to normal levels fast.A small glass of regular Orange juice (8oz) any kind of Hard Candy (Not Diet) or a half a cup of regular Soda (Not Diet, Coke,Pepsi,Sprite, etc) will stabilize her in a short period of time. Any one of these will work. The hard candy she can carry in her purse and it's convenient to use anywhere you are. Tell her to let it dissolve in her mouth slowly.....Check her glucose level after 40 minutes or so after she drinks or eats the candy.....Hypoglycemia is low sugar and is actually more dangerous, than high glucose levels..Too low and your Mom will pass out and could easily go into shock.....This is the sensible solution weather your Mom is Insulin dependent or has type 2 diabetes.Good Luck......

A carbohydrate will slowly bring her levels up without it spiking. Try a few crackers with a glass of milk.

Drink four glasses of water upon waking up in the morning. Do not eat only after 45 minutes and every meal do not eat for two hours for 30days, it would be great help.
