I think if there were anything bad wrong they would have called by now. My friend had cancer and they called her, like, instantly. I had an abnormal pap and they let me know about a week later and said I should come back in a couple of months. Yeast infection, go figure. I heard a news report that said that the labs that interpret the test are way overworked. I also know that it's much worse for them to give a false negative and tell somebody they're fine when they're not, so if there's the least little question they'll tell you they need to repeat it. It doesn't mean you're sick. Take a deep breath, tell yourself that you're fine, and call the doctor's office and ask if your results are back. Maybe they just forgot to call!

Usually about a week. If there was something abnormal, you would have gotten a call. You seem really worried! Relax! You did the right thing. Many women put off getting a pap and it is a very important part of maintaining your health. The gyno is a nerve wracking experience. Make sure you develop a good relationship with your Dr. and are comfortable enough to ask anything! (They've heard it all!!!)
Don't be nervous!

The first pap smear I ever had was abnormal. I didn't receive my results for a few weeks after the test was done though.
It can take a while to get the test results back. Don't worry yourself to death over it.
You can always call them and ask them if they have received your results yet, and if they haven't, ask them if they know about how long it might be till they do.
Good luck to you!

I've never had an abnormal pap smear, but understand doctor's office politics. Don't take the lack of a call as any indication of bad test results. If anything, if your test showed any sign of trouble....you'd be at the top of the list call-wise.
As patients, we're relying on our doctor's offices' caseloads and efficiency, but a follow up call is an easy way to know for sure what's going on. :)

Just an FYI - pap smears take two to three weeks to get accurate results. Most doctors office send a little card or letter saying your normal. If there were any concerns you would get a phone call within those two to three weeks.
If you havent heard anything in 3 weeks, call.

don't worry hun. sometimes it can take a week or two but chances are you're ok...Even abnormal pap smears can just mean you have a yeast infection, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Don't stress about it, you probably won't get a call.
