Turn it down. It's not a close call.

Heat flows like water, from warmer temperatures to cooler ones. The greater the temperature difference, the faster it flows.

By turning the heat down, the inside of your home gets closer in temperature to the outside. So less heat flows out and your heating system has less it needs to put back.

Ideal is a programmable thermostat that will do this automatically, and warm your house back up just before you come home.

That's why they make them.

Depends on where you are. If the days are sunny, the heat taken in may be sufficient to to justify not turning down the heat in the daytime. You could always buy a programmable thermostat to do this for you.
