Vegans look at the big picture and while the actual egg might not turn into a chicken, the process of producing eggs are a result of pain and death.
Male chicks are useless to the egg industry and so are killed at birth. Most of the conditions that egg laying hens are kept in are quite frankly disgusting... especially battery farmed hens that can't even turn around in their cage where they're kept their whole lives. Free range hens get to move around but most are still kept by the thousands in cramped ammonia filled warehouses and rarely, if ever, get to see the light of day due to the pecking order. Hens naturally live in packs of no more than 10, not by the thousands and not in those conditions. This causes stress and disease and the 'farmers' answer to this is to pump them full of drugs. They also de-beak the hens so that they don't injure eachother from the stress... they do this with no anaesthetic and literally just chop their beaks off.
When their egg production dwindles they are killed anyway for their meat usually only a quater of the way through through their natural lives.
As for honey, bees produce honey for themselves, not for humans. We destroy their habitats and steal the honey from them for our own benefit. Some bees are often crushed in the process and the queen bees are routinely killed on purpose. The hives are often gassed and the bees are bred and transported around the world which all causes them great stress.
Personally I don't think any animal should be 'used' for our benefit. They're not machines, they're living beings and I wouldn't be happy consuming or gaining benefit from something when I know something else has gone through pain to produce it for me. You're right, eggs and honey aren't directly causing the animals pain but the process of producing them does and supporting these industries is supporting the exploitation and resulting suffering of animals.

I have heard vegans say that commercial honey hurts the bees not because honey is hurting bees but because the way commercial bee hives are built it injures their wings. I do not know if that is true or not.
The eggs aren't baby chicks, but the way that animals are kept in captivity to lay eggs bothers some people, they de-beak some of the hens, but not all farms do that.
Some people avoid animal products completely so that no animals are domesticated soley to be or produce food for the person.

vegans are actually not think to consume any animal bi products in any respect. not even eggs, no dairy and not something made out of bugs (i.e.-honey). loose variety would not recommend something. even loose variety chickens may be abused. plus, eggs come from chickens which might defeat the point of being VEGAN. i think of that's humorous how human beings wanna call themselves a vegan or vegetarian yet do not stick to the authentic which capability of the words. If one eats honey, eggs or something that comes from any animal, they don't look to be a vegan. If one eats fish, they don't look to be vegetarian i understand that there is a few checklist that names categories of "vegetarianism" yet a real vegetarian abstains from eating purple meat, rooster, fish and meat. My husband and that i are vegetarians. we don't consume animal in any respect. We do drink milk, consume eggs, honey, and dairy products. we're not vegan's.

vegans are to not eat or drink anything that has to do with animals at all - though i agree to a point - on the eggs and honey - the bees arent hurt for honey - and your right the eggs arent fertilized but i imagine its still a female part of an animal in a way - so i could maybe understand that -

Most factories that hens are kept in for laying eggs are very cruel. Think of four-six hens stuffed in a file cabinet drawer. Then multiply that by thousands and you have an egg farm. As to honey, I'm not sure. You do have to smoke bees in order to harvest the honey, which makes them confused so they eat tons of the honey so they become lethargic, but it's not really hurtful. They do recover.

Not a vegan, but if I was, the genuine hard labor of the bee would offend me to steal it.
As for eggs, an unborn chick has the same protine as a developing egg, and if one Rooster is loose, who is to say 10 roosters are not loose.
Now, I am careful, but I am not as Vegan,so the no protine might come from the idea that We as Humans inject crap into the blood streams of our meaty animals on a regular basis.
Vegans might not want to partake in antibiotics, fungicides, and disease resistant germs that regular raised cattle have in common.;

vegans don't eat anything that was at the expense of a living creature, therefore not eating honey is because a bee produced it and the egg is because it is like in a way taking a life.

The egg has as a purpose to create a baby bird. If it didn't, it's cause it was stolen from the mother bird.
About honey - well, that one belongs to the bees, it's theirs. Someone stole it from the bees and brought it to us.

Vegan people do not consume animal products.
Bees and chickens are animals so nothing that originates from them is vegan.
Chickens live in disgusting warehouses that are so crammed full of birds that they cannot turn around or spread a wing.
People do not need honey, bees do. When honey is stolen, it is replaced with cheap corn syrup that makes the bees sick.
Before winter, bees are often burned alive in their hives for various reasons, including the elimination of risk of liability if they were to harm someone when left unattended for an entire season.

because they believe that you are disturbing the creatures natural way of life. For example. if those eggs werent taken from the hen then they would eventually become chickens. Aside from that they are also usually very well aware of the way in which the foods are attained. And hens for example are kept with hundreds of other hens and forced to live in bad environments i order to reproduce simply what is needed. Vegans believe that it is abusive and unfair to cage animals and treat them with disrespect. I had a friend who was vegan. and he believed that even flies! deserved the same respect as humans and should not be disturbed. personally i disagree with that way of thinking but to every man his own i say.
