Sure. Diet sodas do not have calories and fats. If you are a diabetic; you should avoid fats; simple sugars or carbohydrates which are be burn easily and affects the high levels of glucose in your body. Carbohydrate that are not utilized for imediate energy metabolism; will be stored away as fats or glycogen in the liver and tissues. So the triglcyerides here could also be derived from carbohydrates(CHO) and not only in fats.
Triglycerides are a kind of fat. When you eat, your body uses the food it needs for immediate energy and stores the rest in the form of triglycerides. Triglycerides are stored in your fat cells, but they also circulate in your blood and can be measured in a blood test. When too many triglycerides are in your blood, they build up on the walls of your arteries in the form of sticky plaque, causing them to narrow and harden.
Triglycerides are measured at the same time as your cholesterol. A triglycerides level of over 150 is considered high.

some of us cannot drink diet soft drinks because the synthetic sweeteners either give us gastric upset or make us extremely munchy!
the gastric upset is bad enough to make most give up sodas entirely.
the munchies will cause higher glucose levels as we have no judgement when that happens, and/or we gain an enourmous amount of unnecessary inches around the middle from the continuous munching.

I am a Fish Oil fanatic. Fish oil is not a cure but it has been known to almost always lower/regulate blood sugar, including triglyceride levels and cholesterol. Each individual is different and may benefit differently. Fish oil is a supplement with no guarantees but it is an essential and has been known as the only thing to break the blood brain barrier repairing brain tissue, therefore decreasing all over body inflammation and reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke and other serious diseases. Fish Oil naturally reduces stress levels which will decrease the amount of cortisol levels being released and going into your brain and killing brain tissue. When stress and inflammation are reduced so are your chances of diseases.
Definitely do not drink any soft drinks especially diet soft drinks. They are bad for you with or without sugar problems. Do you know that if you have MS they say don't drink soft drinks...that should tell you something right there. Drink water, or even flavored water. LaCroix makes a good flavored water. Put lemon in your water to spice it up. Try to drink a good bottled water or get a reverse osmosis. Tap water is full chlorine and fluoride neither one of those is any good for you either. Flouride puts weight on us, among other harmful things that Flouride can do to us.
If you want to know more about any of this and the fish oil email me directly, I work for a nutritional supplements and safe household products company. We also have a wonderful pet product line for food and supplements, free from the recent pet food recalls, natural, healthy and full of antioxidants and proteinate minerals. There are no harsh chemicals in any of our products and our vitamins are lead free.
There is many things we can do for ourselves before resorting to the Rx that eventually can kill our liver and kidneys. One of my customers was on the verge on needing dialysis and from 50 units a day she went down to 5 units a day. She is not out of the woods but she is on the right path.
PS. There are major differences in Fish Oil and other supplements that most pharamicists and doctors can't tell you because they weren't taught anything unless it's an Rx. Any one with medical degree is not taught nutrition therefore they are not taught anything about supplementing, that's one reason that they can't recommend anything. You might try to find an MD that has been educated in the supplmentation and/or a good nutritionist to help you with this. Good luck either way. Oh, Chromium Picolinate and the spice cinamon also helps to lower blood sugar, there are lots of natural ways to decrease sugar levels in conjunction with your insulin. I am working with several diabetics that have reduced their insulin, some are almost off of their insulin due to the right supplementation, including a good refined and pure Fish Oil with the IFOS rating of a 5. :) Take care of yourself and email me anytime! I am not a doctor and all of my customers are working with me the company I work for and their supporting doctors for more frequent monitoring. Do try anything on your own without the support, consent and monitoring of your MD.

Diet soft drinks will be better than full sugar soft drinks, but you still should try to only drink water.
