I had the common cold symptoms and a sore throat/cough my throat was only sore for a day but i still have my cough and its just getting worse it used to just be in my throat now its more in the chest. coughing up phlem (however you spell it) my chest and back are starting to hurt from coughing so much its a nuisance. Is there any way i can help the cough without getting antibiotics from the doctor

you may try to increase your vit. C intake and drink a lot of fluids. but if your cough is associated with fever, you have to see your doctor and the best way for that is to take an antibiotic.

Robitussin, or the pill form--tussin or Mucinex. You need something with guafinessin, which is a mucus-thinning drug. Take that every 4 hours until your cough is done, and drink lots of fluids, too.
