If you really have been on a strict diet, but are gaining weight rapidly, it could be you have a metabolic disorder. That or it could be related to any medication you're on (though given that avoiding diabetes medication can be FATAL i wouldn't recommend stopping without talking to a DOCTOR). Of course, it could simply be that you have a misunderstanding about diet and exercise.
Stop the laxatives - bad times. That's going to do a hundred thousand horrible things to you and is not going to help you lose weight in the long run - because it doesn't correct the initial problem and as soon as you stop taking them any weight would come back - with a vengeance because you've just screwed up your metabolism. A life on harsh laxatives is no fun - and probably shorter.
Avoiding doctors in general is not a good idea. Embarassing, yes, but they're a good point of contact to give you ideas about what else to do (see a nutritionalist, change diet, exercise). That said, if the doctor's attitude itself is a problem you *can* always switch doctors - but i think you'll find many would be more sensitive than you think if you're truthful about what you've been trying and they see you're serious about imrpoving your weight.

If you feel like your doc. hurts your feelings and is not taking what you say seriously, it is time to find a new doc.
Laxatives can cause havoc on your system as you have found out.
Try increasing your fluid intake. Drink at least 64 oz. of water a day. This will speed your digestion up and help with wt. loss. If you don't like plain water---add some lemon or lime to it. Ask your doc if it is ok to take Metamusil---this is not a harsh laxative--it is not a stimulant. But, it does add fiber to your diet.
When you go to your new doctor, tell them everything you have been through. It is possible that you may have a metabolic problem like Hypothyroidism then can cause wt. gain.
Try to get some exercise everyday, even if you have to really push yourself to walk for 20 mins.
There is no reason that you need to remain with a doctor that makes you feel bad about yourself. You should be able to talk freely to your doc and get the help that you need.

Cinnamon helps to control blood sugar. There is a post that you should not eat shortly before bed...this is true. Your metabolism and digestive slow down in the late evening and especially during sleep. Eat organic and all-natural foods. Is many of your fiber sources coming from bleached flour? Stay away from bleached flour, it is very hard to digest and stripped of nutrition. Try to find sprouted whole grain breads..these need to be kept refrigerated. If you cannot find these, find organic or all-natural whole grain bread with no additives or as little as possible. Eat organic fruits and veggies...they have more nutritional value. Regular produce is grown in soil depleted of nutrients and then zapped with radiation to kill bacteria...and it also kills living enzymes needed for proper digestion. You can also find digestive enzymes in a health food store to use as a nutritional supplement. Additionally find a candida cleanse kit, also at healthfood stores. Most overweight people have a candida yeast (naturally occurring) overgrowth that needs controlled.

well first of all you need to find another doctor. you have to beable to talk to him and this is not foryou. also you are gaining because you are eating too much period. if you would write down everything you eat and then count the calories you would be finding this to be true. sure you can eat all the things you want to like that but bussel basket is not it. i am not trying to hurt you but trying to help you. then those laxatives stop that now. when you go to another doctor feel him out and if you like his style. if hes not right keep trying till you find the one you can honestly talke to also tell him about the laxtives and stuff maybe he can give you diet with measurements on it. no more then 3 oz meat uncook ed how to measure get a scale. you just have to train yourself. you will be fine once you get someone you can work with. take care.

Because you need to exercise regularly, that's what you're missing. While diet is important in losing weight, exercise is essential. You can't expect to lose weight without physical activity. Taking DIET PILLS by the way, is a horrible suggestion and I do not recommend it for you health. Using laxatives to lose weight is like putting your immune system in a grinder, DONT DO IT. Exercise / eat right.

When I lost weight I did it by not eating up to four hours before going to bed. It sounds horrible, just drink lots of water or unsweetened tea to fill up your stomach. Believe it or not, after a while you won't be able to go to bed with food on your stomach. Stop the laxatives, you will really mess yourself up. Stop eating in the evening and you won't need them.

Are you on any meds? Also, many fruits and veg's contain sugar or convert into sugar, that can be the reason. If your taking meds ask your doctor, many cause weight gain.
