Does anyone on insulin controlled diabetes ever feel they are having a hypo, i.e feel kind of week and shaky only to find that they are not, but the symptoms still won't go away? Any idea what might cause this?

If your sugar is very hi, say 280 and it comes down to 180 it feels like a low since you just dropped 100 points.
That's why it's always good to check.

I have had this before right after a high blood sugar. I take extra insulin to compensate for the high and it drops rapidly, which freaks my body out and makes it think I'm low.

Perhaps you're low on energy, or just hungry? Try eating some beef jerky or some cheese - something without carbs - to get your energy level back up without having to take extra insulin.

ALWAYS test, though, because I've had phantom lows where I've done everything normally and my blood sugar just suddenly drops.

If your blood sugars are uncontrolled and usually remain at an elevated level, than the point at which you experience hypoglycemia would be higher than usual
