Actually, I AM Japanese, and I've lived in Asia my whole life, so you don't have to be rude with your answer. I need the statistics for a school project.

This site says each person in Japan uses 200 chopsticks per year: http://www.pans.co.jp/english/kaihashi/

And this site says 25 billion used in japan each year, so if you have a general figure used for population of Japan, you could get a rough estimate (although, the lady in the article might throw it off a bit): http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/06/04/DDGR5D2GHQ1.DTL

Having been over there a couple times, I'd hazard the guess that everyone uses chopsticks.

After living in Japan for 6 months, I was irritated if I went to a non-Japanese restaurant that didn't have chopsticks. They are used all the time. 100% of Japanese use chopsticks.

EVERYONE in Japan uses chopsticks at one point in time. Restaurants don't usually have forks...

I don't understand why you'd be asking this question. It's as if you don't know that chopsticks are the main eating utensil in most Asian countries.

This question would compare to 'how many people in America use forks' wouldn't it? I'd say over 95 percent..

I hope that helped a bit.
