type 1 is when your body produces too much insulin and your sugar is too low. i am a type 2 diabetic and there are several kinds but for an explanation is when your blood sugar is too high i have diabetes mellitus meaning I'm not insulin dependent and i take meds to regulate my blood sugar until my pancreas gives out and i will need to be on insulin the rest of my life. there is no cure for diabetes but it can be maintained by a good diet, exercise, and seeing your doctor and dentist for check ups

Type I Diabetes (juvenile Diabetes) is usually an immune system attack on the bodies insulin producing beta cells It most often occurs in people under 30 but can develop later. Type I diabetics require replacement insulin to supply what the body can no longer make on its own.
Type II Diabetes(Adult Onset Diabetes) is the result of the body becoming desensitized to its own insulin. You may be producing more insulin than most normal people, but you body is unable to use it. It is kind of like having a lot of keys to a car , but non of them are the right one to open the door. People with Type II Diabetes are often overweight and usually 40 or older although it appears to be developing in younger and younger ages. There is a strong tendency to develop Type II if your parents or grandparents had it. It can be controlled with diet and exercise in its earliest stages but with time , often progresses to the point where oral meds and injectable insulin become necessary.
Gestational Diabetes develops in suseptible women during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. It tends to disappear immediately following the pregnancy but usually reoccurs with subsequent pregnancies and becomes full blown Type II Diabetes within 10 -15 years.

Diabetes is treatable and each type of diabetes is treatable in a different way. Some involve taking insulin and constant monitoring or it could simply be a question of change of diet and lifestyle. Remember though Diabetes is not curable but it can be managed. I would recommend seeing your doctor to make a plan that suits you.

Type two basically says there's a disorder primarily cause by insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is where normal amounts of insulin are inadequate to produce a normal insulin response from fat, muscle and liver cells.
Type One diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It's basically the permanent destruction of insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas. Basically, if you have type one, you're screwed.
