HPV is a skin to skin contact disease. It enters the body through small cuts or lesions in the skin.

It doesn't affect the blood at all. That is why people with HPV (and also herpes) can still donate blood (I do). If HPV was spread by blood the American Red Cross would not allow people with it to donate blood (like they do for people with HIV/AIDS).

Take care!

I would read up on this ;) There are a lot of new studies out there. Even HpV is a STD, it is is found in blood and therefor there is a high potential for transmission through blood transfusion. It is fascinating that blood donations are still not tested for HpV. Read up and don t belief all this ... ^^ ;) HpV is responsible for a row of cancers and should be taken serious.

they can still donate blood, it is not a blood to blood virus..its BARELY an std..males are the ones that carry it and pass it on to females b/c they have no way of getting tested for it.. hpv comes in different forms..some people that have hpv develop genital warts internal and very rarely outside of the vagina..most of the time if you have a slight form of hpv it just shows up on the cervix area and its basically pre-cancerous cells(if that) around the cervix and that simply goes away by getting a laser surgery or the most popular one is the cryo-surgery which just freezes the cells right off the cervix..people take hpv the wrong way and make it sound like a real std, it's not but girls do catch it from guys, b/c guys have no way of knowing they have it b/c the can not get tested for it..most people with hpv in the cells on the cervix goes away..im not sure about people that develop the hpv warts

People with warts on their fingers or any other part of their body can donate blood too. It's the same virus.

Different strains of the same virus cause the STD. It's not bloodborne.

HPV is a sexually transmitted disease. It is NOT a blood borne disease.

However, if you have such a disease, it would be wise to let the people at your local branch of the Red
Cross know because there is a possibility you could be deferred.
