Two things jump out at me in these responses...

First: ...this question was asked in response to the same one asked about the US flag. These answers were mostly positive in contrast to some very crude and outright sinister responses about my US flag. Thells me something about our image in the UK. I haven't seen any Americans degrading the UK flag here.

Second: I got 38 answers and not one star.....curious.

I think " So that is what they look like" Becuase you never see one unless it is on a goverment building becuase the peope of the UK have made it to where you are a racist to show any national pride in the UK.

I live most of the year in the UK and never see anyone flying one. I am back in the states right now getting treatment from the VA and I took a picture the other day of the city skyline and when I was looking at it I saw 19 US flags flying from houses and buildings.

The British people need to start a war on Political correctness and take their country and herratige back.

How I agree with Shaka, above, we have lost our identity, and most of it in the last ten years with those Scots Blair and Brown as PM. If Alec Salmon has his way (and I think he will) Scotland will be independend (will these Scots get into the Scottish Parliament? I doubt it) and the Union Jack will be no more. I fly the flag of St George outside my house. I suppose the biggest symbol you see in Britain these days is that of the Muslims, flying from their places of worship. But then anything new comers to these shores do is ok. It`s only the white people who were born here who have no say! Fly the Union flag in a prominant place and you will probably be arrested.

There are just 3 flags in the world that invoke a real sense of pride in me!

The union jack!

The stars and stripes!

and the battle flag used by the confederate army during the American civil war.. All other national flags merge into being none decrepit and meaningless.

I was going to ask this question after reading the American flag question (great minds think alike).

The Union Jack........
Great colours Red White and Blue.
It's also four flags put together as one, Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
It's very distinctive and is well known all over the world.
People forget....... We used to rule the world before America, and look how small our country is. We were the first people to stop the Germans taking over the world, we invented the telephone, the steam engine and a whole load of other things I can't remember.
Best of British to yous all !

The glory and honour of the Union Jack from the United Kigdom of Gt, Britain with the Battle of Britain and the Liberation of Freedom for Europe from world war two.
Can still recall it from the postage stamp with pictures of those fighter planes.

I like it even better when it is
1. Given its proper name of the Union Jack and not the politically correct nonsense 'the union flag'.
2. Made locally. The ones imported from China, and even used in official circles, have the colours and design to make it a mockery.

Proud, patriotic.
I also always remind myself that it's the Union Flag - it is only a Union Jack when flown on board ship (lived here all my life - 43 years, and only found that out 2 years ago).
I also like to check that whoever is flying it, doesn't have it upside down - easy mistake.
