during the first trimester the main goal is to treat the infxn.you might want to tell your friend to piously follow the doctor's order, that she has to finish entirely the medication even if there are no signs and symptoms of the infxn..If symptoms are still present then she has to go for re-testing.
Living the infxn untreated may lead to infxn of the amniotic fluid and sac.It can also lead to preterm birth and preterm premature rupture of the membrane. This kind of infxn. is the most common cause of conjunctivitis and pulmonary diseases to newborns.

It's ALWAYS important for a pregnant woman to talk to her doctor or a pharmacist before taking ANY kind of medication.

There are several different medications for treating and curing a chlamydia infection; however, only a few are recommended for pregnant women. Erythromycin and amoxicillin can both cure a chlamydia infection and are fine for pregnant women to take without hurting their baby. Testing is also recommended about 3 weeks after treating the infection to make sure it has been cured.

Tell your friend she needs to talk to her doctor and get a prescription for an antibiotic that won't be harmful to her unborn baby. Take care!

It's better the treated it now, I think. Some infections, like STD's, can cause preterm labor.

This is a real reason to call the doctor in the morning!
I MIGHT EVEN CALL THE LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM TONIGHT.
