Boycott NASCAR until they come back to the old ways of deciding the championship, AND lowering the cost to go see a race?

People, People, People, Its just a question! Chill out would you please? First, I think the COT is a work in progress, just like the times they have changed the cars in the past. (Grand National style to what we have as the "old car" being replaced.
I agree that change for the better is good, and yes nascargal.29, I am a long time fan. I have been watching racing for over 40 years. I just think the scoring and arbitrary enforcement of rules are less than fair. If Mike Helton wants to be the "enforcer" for the rules, then they should be enforced equally and fairly, not arbitrairilly.
As far as cost, here is what I found for tickets to next years Daytona 500 " 4818 tickets available from $134 to $1552 each."
Still does not seem affordable to me as those are the TICKET cost. Not including travel and accomodations.

And jgrevinjim, I agree. Get out to the local tracks and support them. All drivers start out at the small tracks. By the way, Matin Truex raced on the track in hy home town. I remember seeing his grandfather race in the late 60's.

I'm ready if you're willing. I'll get the pitchfork.
I don't really care about the cost, I'm just tired of all these rules infractions and switching and such. All NASCAR is these days is a huge soap opera. Sometimes I have to check the info just to make sure if I'm not watching wrasslin' by accident.
So, who's bringing the picture of Helton to burn? It may take a bit to burn it though. Mind stealing some of Mikey's rocket fuel to help it along?

Already have to a certain point. I basically only watch the tracks that are of old days before all the cookie cutter tracks that should not be.
I watch only 2 races in the chase which the chase is such a joke I can't even stand hearing that work anymore.
I have stopped going to there races which I only went once or twice a year. Don't have $$$$
If I am watching a race and when they reach the end of the 500, 400 or what ever the race distance is the race is over. No Green White Checker in this house.
If there is a driver that I like that doesn't make the race because he qualified better than most of the field but was ninth on the out of the top 35 list I don't watch that race either.
To be sent home because your not grand fathered in is ridiculous. Unload the lumps on a log the way it should be. If your not seeing the best drivers then what has this supposedly premiere series came too? It is a club I guess. Count me out.
And the last thing is I don't buy anything that has NASCAR on it or buy any of their sponsors stuff unless it just can't be helped. I do support the armed services but this where it stops.
And that is my little contribution to how I look at it now with the ridiculous changes that has happen. I love racing and there are many other series out there that are as good if not better they just don't race so much it is driven into the new fans weak heads.

Boycott Nascar? NEVER, I have come to accept the fact that nascar will change, change, and change again, we won't be able to fight it, but I wish that they would lower the cost to go and see the race, but they are some what athletes, and all athletes get paid way too much money, so I think they deserve it too!!! As far as the COT I think the cars are really cute they look short and stocky, they do need better protection we don't need to loose another great driver.

No, I could never boycott Nascar,I've been around it all my life. Ticket prices in all sports have gone up, Nascar is a real bargain compared to most, come out to calif and buy Laker tickets, you need to take a loan out...My baseball season tickets prices could buy someone a new car.....Yes, I hate the top 35 owner pts, I will eventually get use to the Crap of Tomorrow (aka COT), maybe eventually Nascar will figure out a decent Chase Format (or get rid of it) and get consistant with the rules and not make them up as they go along...The world is changing and so is Nascar, its like everything else, people will love or hate it.....Besides it gives us something to complain about, if Nascar was perfect we'd all be bored..
Nascar rules & so does Dale Jr...

NASCAR has been changing constantly since its conception in 1948, and there has never been a general boycott. There was no boycott in 1950 when they got rid of the strictly stock division. There was no boycott in 1962 when they created the spec chassis. There was no boycott when Talladega opened in 1969, even though the Grand National (Cup) drivers boycotted the race itself. There was no boycott in 1971, when NASCAR did away with the dirt tracks, and reduced the schedule from 54 to 38 races. Nor was there a general boycott when Winston became the series sponsor, something unheard of before in sports. There was no boycott when the car that we now call the "old" car replaced the stock car bodies in 1995.
I think serious race fans--those who don't fall for the media's soap opera stories--will always complain about the changes, but their love of the sport will result in a grudging accepteance, and they will always continue to watch.
Support your local racing, and I would bet that if one of your local favorites makes it to the "big time," you will be a NASCAR fan.

I don't like a manufactured points battle (the chase format). The individual tracks set the price of tickets not NASCAR, so tickets to the premier races will be more costly. Some of the races that don't sell out, tickets are a little more reasonable. I personally prefer to watch racing at local dirt short tracks.

I would love to be able to boycott the races and have all the people I know that watch and go to tracks because there are many people in my circle of family, friends and acquaintances who all watch or listen. All these new rules have ruined our traditions and spoiled racing in a way for my family.
We've had Daytona keg parties at my brother's for years and years - right up until they renamed it NEXTEL and with the new name came all these f'd up rules. My bro had a couple more afterwards but they lost their spark and we eventually quit. Since then my brother has boycotted.
All the Winston Cup banners still hang up in his garage and the memories are on video tape but the races will never be the same for us. With deaths of everyone from family to friends to even drivers, our parties and racing will never be the same.
My entire family - we are die hard Earnhardt fans. It took me months to even hear a race in the background in 2001 and I could not watch at all that year he passed.
It is too bad we could not start a coalition of people to stand together to honor all those who cannot stand with us and show the power of the people. Power in numbers is only as strong as the people representing and unfortunately, today, even when words are strong, most prove to be weak.
To see old school racing with the COT next year minus the top 35 BS would do my heart some good. For sure.

I like the COT for it's safety reasons alone, so I'm all for keeping it. NASCAR drivers and crews are the best, they'll figure it out.
I'm all about going back to the old points format, or at least something similar. I don't mind the playoffs.....but the guy leading at the end of the regular season should get 25-50 more points starting the chase.
The cost of the races are out of control...period.

Never..... Nascar fan here regardless of the mess they have with the rules.
The tickets are priced ok... the cost comes at just getting there and the cost to stay there for the race.

I'm SO close to just stopping watching it all together. It's gotten waaaaay out of hand. And I really do not like the COT either. Becuase now teams have pretty NO say what-so-ever in their car.
I miss the old tracks and all the cookie cutter (oops I mean 'new') tracks are just boring.
