An atheist will make the claim that, they are good people because it makes logical sense to be good to other and live in harmony with others. They don't need a pie daddy to tell them to be nice. If that is the case, why are there antaganizing post here asking believers question that they know will hurt their feelings? Why would an atheist here post an answer such as "Christians are simpletons. They are all idiots, etc". Doesn't that contradict your claim. Even if only some said such things, wouldn't there be a backlash of other atheist telling them that isn't a nice humane thing to say?

So if atheist are generally nice people, why would any of them be rude period? Wouldn't they respond to a question in a polite logical way, instead of going the mean route? This site isn't full of 90% or even 75% of nasty rude believer q/a, and just a scattered atheist rude q/a. It is more like 50/50.

So who exactly do you assume is nicer. Not everyone is the same offline.

We ALL should evaluate people individually.

Sugar daddy, pie daddy whatever term atheist have coined. Never said that Christian are never rude online nor in real life. However, what would be the purpose to be rude period to anyone online? My behavior is based on the standards of the bible and by the judgement of man. From what I gather (from comments) your behavior is based on what is beneficial for the betterment of humanity. So what is the benefit of being rude, if you are an atheist? Why be rude at all? Even if someone is rude to you, there is no benefit in responding in a rude way. It would be a waste of time. Constant bickering back and forth will only lead to more hostility and not solve anything.

A sky daddy... I don't need, but a "pie daddy" is always welcome, especailly if it's apple pie!

"Generally" and "universally" are not the same. There are some atheist jerks out there, I've seen them. Just the same, though, there are some true jerks that come out of your religion.

From what I've seen, the majority of people here, no matter what religion, are nice, friendly people. I think it's a balance.

I'm not sure where you're going with this "sugar daddy" thing though.

There are nice & mean people in all groups.

Have you seen the lovely poster who keeps posting things like "atheists have no trouble lieing" or "atheists drink monkey blood".

It goes both ways.

Christians claim to be more "moral" because they believe in God, and some of them slander non-Christians on the net.

You act as though atheists are more than human. Contrary to that popular belief, we are only human. The only qualification to being an atheist is disbelief in the supernatural. Rationality and good manners aren't in the definition, even if they have a correlation.

I think it's good to challenge other peoples' beliefs, and for them to challenge mine - in an honest, unhurtful way. Everything should be questioned, especially answers to the universe.

I will agree and some some atheists do this. Not all. You should see some of the filth Christians say about atheists. It's a two way street. I judge the person. Not the religion.

hmmm...it goes both ways don't ya' think? I am a Christian and notice Christians antagonizing the atheists too. why not more Christians saying mean responses from Christians to atheists are not nice. People are responsible for themselves...I agree though that we should lift each other up regardless of belief or forum...real world or not. God bless!

Well if you haven't noticed, yeah there are still theistic arseholes out on R&S too! If one is continually beaten down for being "mislead" or "going to hell", then it would be natural for them to be mad at the people antagonizing them.

I, as a pagan, have always watched from the sidelines as the Christians and atheists battled, and it's stupid to say that only atheists are contributing to the fight.

Different people have didn't definitions of what it means to be a "good" person. With some people poking a little fun at people over the Internet isn't that big of deal, I know I'm that way.

This place is hardly an exemplar of Xians (I would hope) neither is it a good example of Atheists.

Atheists only have one thing in common: a belief in no gods.

Also, many of our answers are misconstrued by people who pretend to be "more martyrier than thou."

Many of the responses may be made to an incredibly intolerant or ignorant person, regardless of their religion.

There are nice people in virtually all religions and beliefs. There are nasty people in virtually all religions and beliefs. Let's evaluate people individually instead of making generalizations based on baseless stereotypes.
