Conservative estimates of the spending on the war in iraq total over 500 billion dollars. This would be enough money to supply energy to 60 million homes if spent on solar or wind energy sources. Or, the money could have been invested in new energy research, battery technology, and electric cars, and yielded even greater energy independence. So why aren't these things being done?

Because our president is a "war president" who doesn't care about unexciting things like saving the Earth.

This government has to know the benefits of wind and solar powers as compared to electric/fossil fueled power. I seriously still don't know why we ever involved ourselves in Iraq, but the money keeps going there. There are so many issues that need to be addressed in addition to the energy problem. We are using our resources faster than they can be replenished, if they even can be. Is our government hiding something? Does it know something we don't about this energy crisis? What about poverty or hunger? Why do we bomb other countries and then rebuild them? Why can't we put it towards the things that are really bothering people? I just don't understand it at all. Maybe I am uninformed or something, but it just doesn't make sense. This is probably just a rant and I didn't answer your question. Sorry.

Because you will find out that the longer you live that government makes its choices based upon greed. If they did do the right thing and do as you say, how would they proffit from it? So many people that own the facilities that give us fuel or electricity is probably paying them off under the table to keep their mouth shut. Does a politician usually do what he says he's gonna do? Or do they suppress technology for their own greed? Who's to say, who is and isn't but, with all of the corruption we have in politics, I wouldn't doubt it one bit. We also have had the technolgy to send a man to the moon since the 60's many, many times & have explored space continually. There has and always be money for that because, they are probably searching for another planet to screw up. Instead we have some of the smartest people on earth wasting their abilities just to say we got there, or did it first. Its really funny when you hear that they are ''looking for more intelligent life'' out there !!!!..... If you was an alien monitoring the planet, would you respond, or just watch the planet as if it was just another episode of ''Jackass''???

Its because all people care about is being on top of everybody else, controlling the world. George Bush just wants the natural gas and crude oil from iraq to be theirs so they can sell it at a higher price.

Because green energy and green living is unpatriotic. Why the hell can't you hippies understand that we need to fight terrorism by supplying human right violating countries (like Saudi Arabia) with weapons so our oil companies can make more money in order to pay for our military to protect their pipelines in middle eastern coutries that have been constantly bombed for the past 6 years because they didn't want to let ExxonMobile have their oil because they are freedom loving hippies like all of you who complain and protest when their fascist "democratic" government starts taking their rights away because they need to control you in order to force you to buy oil from ExxonMobile so they can gain power and control the whole world so we can become their slaves.

Everybody wonders why we don't spend more money on their favorite thing. Bill Gates spent a billion dollars on hospitals and schools for poor countries. Why didn't he spend it on solar panels for all Microsoft factories and employee homes? Because he didn't want to.
