Concordance means two or more people have the same condition.

A common example would be two people who are mutually monogamous sexual partners. If both have HIV, so they would be called "HIV-seroconcordant."

Likewise, you can use concordant to describe people with a mutual ABSENCE of a disease.

And if one person has a disease and his or her contact does not, then they would be DISCORDANT. For example, if you have one HIV+ person paired with a HIV- person, they'd be a serodiscordant couple.
