People say it's crazy that moses split a sea with a staff, but couldn't it also be viewed as "it's crazy that we "evolved" from monkeys"
weren't you guys the one that said seeing is believing? i'm sure you've never seen a monkey turn human

and if my question is different from what i usual ask, or is taken as critical, sorry. i'm having an off day

heh
nvm
apparently i haven't lived the fullest of R&S....

also, sorry if i got my facts wrong. all i remember from 4th grade was this picture of a monkey going through phases and ending at a caveman, and reading this caption about humans evolving from monkeys.

to giovani geezus- ok. christians make fun of science- i guess i just never saw it on R&S for some reason. but anyway, i read your profile, but i'm not sure you have the right concept on christians themselves. you said that they believe without question- are you kidding? you also said we believe because we were told to- yes, i was born in a christian family and went to churh because of my parents, but i was still basically an atheist because i found many reasons to not believe in God. it was literally God himself who helped me believe. i, on the other, did not want to. you also said you studied religion in depth- but that's basically reading a textbook without understanding it.

in response to bensbabe- i don't have my blinders on. i simply haven't met christians who do that in my community and church. not to say that what you say isn't true, but i'm not asking about christians and atheists conflictions again

UNfortunatly my friend and i mean this not just here i mean everywhere. Christians some of them do ridicule and look down upon people who dont share their beliefs just as the other side does to other people. Its a human thing not a religion thing. Not all of us are this way....but not everyone can be like that.

I'm not sure. Is the Bible more popular than Science? I mean, they both require faith but how would one measure that? If it did prove more popular then I would guess that the Bible poses a threat to Science.
But! I don't see them as opposites...just to clarify that. Science is needed to prove a lot of the history noted in the Old Testament. It only becomes a hindrance to Bible believers when the estimations are off or as an alternative to the Creation of the world.
If my answer finds you angered, question why.

You must be new here if you think Christians haven't posted questions like that.

Oh, and science has never said that "humans evolved from monkeys". That's not the way evolution works. Evolution has discovered that humans and other apes share a common ancestor. In fact, if we saw a monkey turn into a human, that would be a good argument AGAINST evolution.

Also, you don't have to be an atheist to accept evolution. You might want to read a bit on this subject. I suggest the essays below.

i'm sorry that individual changed into so rude. the very undeniable reality that you and your associates can understand one yet another's beliefs is impressive, though as a Christian i am hoping they're somewhat in contact about the position your soul is headed. No you at the prompt are not freaks of nature. some human beings purely get their kicks out of putting others down.

I get so tired of this crap! We do not make fun of the bible, we only say it is a story! And christians will not even consider the fact that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, and that there were dinosaurs! And, we did not come from monkeys, we are only related to them! I am not a scientist, so I coudln't tell you how we are connected to the apes! Ask an authority on DNA!! You people are so closed minded, it is scary!!

Christians do make fun of science and pretty much anything and everything, just like everyone else. Most are not living the way we were intended to, and that's the real problem.

the *theory* of evolution is based on faith, not foundation. Experiments have been made in attempts to proof spontaneous creation but with ingredients of molecules and the like. Creation, a more farfetched theory, says God made everything from nothing. Easy and clean. no monkey's: no flinging crap

I think your logic is having an off day, as well. The monkey turning into a human part. Hope tomorrow is better for you.

one is based on facts and observations, the other is a telling of a fable with events in it that defy reality and the laws of physics.

if moses could do this then why hasn't anyone been born with the power to do so since?

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Xians attempt to make fun of and deride science and our beliefs constantly. Notice I said "attempt". Their pathetic arguments are so old and debunked, it's pathetic.

Besides, why are you asking a trolling "question" like this when, in fact, you attempted to deride us in your own question. (Monkeys, etc.) Can you say HYPOCRITE?

the same reason that liberals generally boo and taunt conservative speakers at college lectures, while conservatives will sit quietly through a liberal lecture (and this has been observed in a few colleges)...i think it boils down to the fact that as christians, we have faith in the Bible, faith in God...to us, it's more about defending the religion than attacking sciences or beliefs...it's also worth noting that christianity is the most peaceful religion (generally speaking)...we don't convert by the sword or blow up "countries in sin"...science is even beginning to prove that evolution could not have happened...think about it....if you lose your arm, does that mean that your children will have just one arm????
