If you believe in souls, you'd know that we technically can't do anything without bodies, other than thought and such. it's like a crab and it's "shell."

You've asked a really important question. I will just mention two major answers that have had some influence.
In the early years of Christianity there were also folks called "Gnostics." They can help us understand Christianity, and vice versa.
The Gnostics looked around and saw a sorry, beat-up world with buildings decaying and mountains being worn down and bad things happening. Their explanation was that the material world hadn't been made by the real God but rather by some defective lower being (a "demi-urge"). (See wikipedia link below.) In this scheme of things the material world was bad, the soul is trapped in the body, and the primary spiritual goal is to get the soul out of the body and out of the physical world into the spiritual realms. So the classic Gnostic answer to your question would be souls can exist apart from bodies and that's the best state.
The Christians looked around and said that matter (like the rest of the universe) is basically good because God created it but the universe somehow got screwed up. Not only did God create matter but He Himself became flesh. So the Christians said that a human being is a combination of soul and body, and even in the grand resurrection at the end of time we will have suitable bodies. (1 Corinthians 15:35-44)So the Christian answer to the first part of your question is no, souls can't really exist without bodies. I don't have a ready answer to the second part of your question.

Your physical body is one of many incarnations you elected to take.
You chose this physical experience as you wished to fully experience the physical life and all it has to offer.
Before you were physical you were YOU, a higher self awarness allowing a portion of yourself to take the physical form.
By Agreements with your higher self you chose to "Forget" all you are and were and will be and focus on your physical life in whatever country, state or town you live it.
If one were aware of the higher self and all the knowledge it holds, one could hardly experience the physical world and hold value to it's perils and joys.
This physical focus has evolved to choice, yet, it began as a mistake and lost contact with God, the reality. It was never the intention that mankind forget himsdelf.
Mankind is so focused on the self, the EGO has taken much control away from mans consciousness by simply "taking over". The Ego is the liar that teaches mankind that "The physical world is all there is" and beyound that is nothing but "hope"; in short, the ego has evolved ahead of mankinds Spiritual self.

Excellent question. In my beliefs, the body is required to exist in this dimension. The soul is an energy force that animates the Body.

Good Question. Think of your body as nothing more than a vessel. Your soul is the real you, your essence. Just like you need a vehicle to go to the market, so too this body services as vehicle to function this world. When our time comes to move on, we leave this vessel and move to next phase in our lives.

thats a really intreasting question, there is not really any scientific evidence proving souls and spirits exist, how ever, with the general public becoming more intrested in topics like this, scientist are becoming more intrested and are proberly finding ways to actually study and mesure and record it as a science, me personaly, i think there is a soul, spirit, or some sort of energy force that humans have yet discoverd that does indeed inhabbit our bodies. discovery, national geograpic, history and documentry channels are proberly a good way to stay up to date with this topic.

Dude: The Bible says that we were created a little lower than the angels. The angels have the ability to be in the spirit and also be in the flesh whenever they desire--so does God. What makes our body alive is our soul, the conscious part of us that makes up our personality and awareness of self. God created us immortal and eternal, but, because of sin, we became subject to physical and spiritual death. If we come back to him and be reconciled through Jesus, we gain back our eternal nature and right to be in his presence. Those who chose to live in sin also have an eternal soul, but their dwelling is to be in torment (hell).

Can people travel independently of cars? If so, what's the point of cars? See my point? Bodies are like cars for souls. Some souls drive awesome sports cars...my soul drives something like a Subaru Brat.

The Soul is intangible while the body is tangible. You have Computer Software; programs those you can not touch and they are called intangible products but you can easily touch the computer and feel its presence by doing so.

The soul is the everlasting essence of your life and the body exsists to protect the soul until maturity (death or "Gods Calling") seperating your soul from your body is suppose to be what happens when you die..

Because souls want to know what it is like to feel more, from what I have been told they dont have much feeling, so they are put into bodies and they have something called a vail around them that makes them forget everything, and they are able to feel.
Thats only like .984359043572893754354358432758 of it though lol.
