HPV can become dormant for a LONG time. I have personally had HPV for 6+ years and I didn't develop genital warts from it till about 5 years after I was diagnosed! It took 5 years for me to show any signs of the virus! So, it's possible you, or your partner, got the virus from a previous partner and are just now showing signs of it.
This is one of the reasons why HPV is so common today. Most people have no signs or symptoms, and it can take several months and even years for someone to show symptoms. So, most people are unaware they even have HPV and end up spreading it unknowingly.
Don't worry about it too much. Genital warts are usually fairly easy to get rid of. I'd be more concerned about the cervical cancer it can cause (which kills 4,000 women in the US every year). Pap smears are the best thing women can get to detect any abnormalities on the cervix caused by HPV. With yearly pap smears, abnormalities can usually be caught early before they turn into pre-cancerous cells or cervical cancer.
Good luck!

Everyone is half right, and half wrong. A wart comes from a virus. You can spread viruses. If you have a wart on your finger, and touch your genitals, you can get a wart down there. However, that wart is not the same as genital warts. Genital warts come from a different virus called papilloma .

Do see a doctor pls.
And genital warts are a highly contagious sexually transmitted infection. It is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner.
I am sorry got std from yr partner, he have it and he don't seem to know it, one person will have std when one have sex with someone who already have.
Genital warts often disappear without treatment, but sometimes eventually develop a fleshy, small raised growth. There is no way to predict whether they will grow or disappear.
Depending on the size and location of the warts, and other factors, a doctor will offer one of several ways to treat them.

Go see a dermatologist asap and come clean to your partner. They have a right to know and you wont be able to hide it once you see the dermatologist. They will need to freeze them off in several sessions and you cant hide that from a partner. Good news is that when they are gone they are gone.
Did you think for a second that maybe he gave them to you by messing around?
