Trimming tree branches causes the tree to re-grow several more branches in place of the ones you trim off. It makes the trees look nicer, and makes them "bushier".

Also, on really big trees, it's safer -- large, over-hanging branches can be a hazard if they break and fall, for instance if weighed down heavily by ice.

Trimming branches promotes new growth, improves appearance and can eliminate potential safety hazards, among other things.

It will reduce sunlight to the grasses and plants at the ground level, causing them to die. also prob due to aesthetic purposes and reduce hazards from old, falling branches :)

Don't know I live in the city and they gave me a fine for not mowing my lawn . I told them about global warming they just thought i was nuts
