In raising my children I only want to do what's right for them.
When it comes to meals how should I go about it?
When it come time to eat should I set the table with a varity of food vegtables, meats, juices, ice cream, soda, candy, cake, pie, pudding and etc?
Then should I not tell them what to eat should I just let them choose from everything that is in front of them which they want?
Wouldn't it be better for them if I let them choose what they want for themselves instead of "forceing" my on ideas on them?

FAITH IS FIXED Jesus is the ONLY way.
Why do so many think eating food should be the parents choice but faith should be left up to the child. Faith is much greater, it is not pick and choose. Jesus is the only way.
queenthe this is a great example of the way unbelievers think. That's why some such as yourself has had their feathers ruffeled.

Is this making fun of the people who ask about letting their children choose a religion?

Meal time isn't the time to worry about forcing your ideals on a child.
Nutrition is not an "ideal" or your "belief" it is a science. Being overweight or obese is a huge problem (no pun intended) and can cause many problems throughout life including increased risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other issues.
You should teach your children healthful eating habits at an early age and make sure that they also exercise properly. There is a reason why "back in the day" parents used to always say "eat all of your vegetables" and "go outside and play." Allowing your children to just eat whatever tastes good and makes them happy will start them on a very unhealthy road that can end very badly.

A difficult one. I would personally not set the table full of pies, cakes etc. It is not about forcing your ideas on them but rather ensuring they are able to grow up helathily and with the right nutrition. This means that children simply cannot eat candy etc constantl and be healthy.
As a responsible parent you have to give them a good example as to what they should be eating at mealtimes. If they think puddings are the norm they will most likely eat them as a staple food rather than the treat they should be. Everything in moderation so yes, give them puddings etc as a treat but counterbalance that with a healthy, varied diet.

If you choose not to tell them about God thats ok. God will get his word to those kids. He will use someone else. Now lets reset this table in this order. All those candys and such you put on there can make a child, fat, or sick. Especially if you did thise every day. So if you knew something could harm them wouldnt you rather take it from the table and add things that are better. Well I am hear to tell you hell is as bad as it gets. I will be praying that God saves your children and then uses them to witness to you.

Not a bad idea. Let them choose and if they choose candy and cake and all that, they will be the ones who suffer later with whatever ill feelings they have. I bet the next time they will choose wisely. Just make sure the kids are not too young when you do this. Pick an age that they have the ability to understand.

No you are the parent. You are to teach your children what to do. They will have time later to make choices. Fix wholesome meals with the different food groups and a dessert. If you know they hate or dislike a certain thing don't fix that just to make them eat it. And don't fix the same thing all the time.
Ask them once a week what they would like to have to eat and if it's reasonable let them have it.

I think you are trying to make a poor anaology between letting children choose their own religion and allowing children to eat soda, candy & pie for dinner.
It's a poor analogy.
However, there would be nothing wrong with having several HEALTHFUL choices in the meal. Perhaps have the main meal, but let them choose orange juice or tomato juice to have with their breakfast. Or would they like their eggs scrambled or sunny side up.
Or at dinner, instead of one salad tossed together, they could choose what salad ingredients.
Also, if ALL the choices you are offering are healthful, why demand that they eat ALL of it. What would be wrong if they were to forego, ONE of the vegetables one night ? Or if they hated beets, why should they be forced to eat beets on the night you serve beets, if they are generally eating healthwise.
Also, keep lots of healthful snacks on hand, and let them choose their own healthful snacks between meals. What would be so terribly wrong with letting a child choose between an apple or raw carrots for an in between meal snack ?
And nothing wrong with the occasional cookie or cake in moderation. There are even healthful desserts that can be offered. I have a DELICIOUS recipe for carrot cake, that uses NO SUGAR or HONEY. It is sweetened with applesauce & raisins.
I don't think DICTATING every morsel that goes into a child's mouth teaches them healthy eating habits anyway.
Are YOU capable of going into a restaurant & making good meal choices ? Or do you order strictly off the dessert menu.

I feel bad for your kids people with your philosophy let them choose what set a few weapons out and see if they play with those or their toys? when crossing the street don't hold their hands just see if they know if they should or should'ent run in front of the car? I really don't see the difference here either you give your children a healthy balanced diet or you don't. A man that stands for nothing will fall for anything thats what I say. Good luck to you and yours.

I grew up with pinto beans and fried potatoes, cereal as my main meals for years. I know something about what deprivation of certain foods can do to a child. Yet, I would not say to set the table with all that you asked about. I'd say it's okay to serve a different thing with one of those treats every day though. Just a thought.

You are the Boss but What I think let them eat dinner first and dessert leave it for last or you can use dessert as prize who eat their veg/ meat or what ever for dinner.
I noticed when every thing is on table kids prefer ice cream soda first.
But still its your house your kids you know better for your children

Which religion is the wholesome enriching diet and which is the empty caloric diet? I don't think you should feed your children one thing only and never let them try anything else, but there's nothing wrong with showing them which "foods" work for you and have helped you produce a healthy "body"....
