I have a Costa Rican chicken recipe that lists "1/2 tsp behol" as an ingredient. What in the world is this? Where do you get it?

THANKS!

It's actually "bijol" and is used in Carribean cooking as a substitute for the more expensive spice, saffron. You can find it in Cuban or Puerto Rican markets.

Sorry, no idea. I tried to look every where on the net for BEHOL, but could not find anything.
You might try and go to a Costa Rican store (take the recipe with you) or ask someone from Costa Rica.
You may even want to click on the Mexican flag (down below) and ask in their 'Comer y Beber' section.
GOOD LUCK!!

Use it sparsly. It's a abreviation of "behold".
