A woman that I bumped into again, for the second time..swears that "eating anything with a face" or "eating anything with a head or eyes" is pretty much deadly for diabetics and pretty much everybody in the whole world, in general. She also has told me that eating potatoes, eggs, cheese, butter, milk, ice cream, yogurt, pasta, rice, are all really, really BAD for all of us..that it clogs up our arteries...and colon, and more..so does corn..which human beings cannot digest as well. She has also said that eating meat is horrible for us..because we humans just cannot digest the skin of an animal, that we were not "made" or "born" to do that at all!
Even fish!!

Also, she said the best thing to eat basically is greens...lots and lots of greens and fruits..and nuts...
if cooking use nut oils only!

I would love to know what you all think..and why?

this is mostly about diabetes...but, if you have other info, it would be gladly accepted!!

thank you!!

the best meat for a diabetic is chicken, fish, and turkey.foods you want to stay away from is anything white, such as bread, rice, pasta, because it is really high in carbs, and it turns to sugar.whole kernell corn does not digest well that is true, greens veggies and fruits are good but you still have to be careful when choosing them because of the sugar in them,Cherries strawberries blueberries, even watermelon is good, watermelon is high in carbs but it mostly made of water so it dont stay in you body long enough to effect your sugar that much.Im a diabetic and I use canola oil or olive oil when I fry,but I usually bake my meat.Baked sweet potatoes are good for you insteat of a white potatoe, but then baked potatoes dont run my sugar that much but stay away from the fries.

Speaking as a vegetarian of many years, there is something in what she says about many of these things, BUT people should NOT give medical advice unless they are qualified!

She can say that this diet she has is good for her, but how can she know what would be good for you?

Diabetes can be a tricky disease, and while there is lots of information out there, it's best to start with a visit to a physician recommended dietician, who can work your preferences and food choices into a sensible diet.

Once you've reached that point, you can begin to 'experiment' with adding and subtracting meat, etc, to and from your diet.

Having said that, yes, I think most animal fats clog up our arteries and colon, and so do most vegetable fats if they are not 'brushed' through our system by plenty of plant fibre and good, fresh water.

For me, a balanced diet is the most important thing, whether you are diabetic or not, vegetarian or not.

Fresh fruit and veg, some sort of regular exercise and plenty of water all help to keep the system working as it should, help to moderate diseases such as diabetes and also to fend off the type of depressive conditions many people get when they are housebound for too long.

About corn .... well, not to be disgusting but years ago I watched a documentary about a sewer processing works, and the reporter asked 'what are all those bright coloured flecks in the waste matter', to which the sewer worker said 'corn'. So no, I do not think it is easily digested in 'raw' form, lolol.

Cheers :-)

Obviously, she's got more of an ethical issue than a dietary one since she's talking about eating 'things with faces'. A balance of foods, including lean meat and fish, is extremely important for diabetics. A few ounces of lean protein (a little fat is helpful, so don't eliminate it altogether) along with carbohydrates and vegies will help a diabetic maintain a steady blood sugar for a longer period. They should try to limit foods with 'high glycemic index' since those break down quickly into high amounts of glucose and cause the blood sugar level to spike. Corn is among those.

But whole brown rice is extremely healthy, and yougurt helps balance the digestive system when it contains active cultures.

One cannot eat just greens. They don't contain all of the nutrients we need, nor would they alone provide sufficient calories. We do thrive on whole grains and they should be a part of nearly every meal. Nuts should be taken in moderation, such as 1/4 cup per day, but should be included in every day's diet.

What's healthy for a diabetic is healthy for everyone, since we would all benefit by limiting our intake of high glycemic index foods, and eating a balanced diet.

I think the woman is a health food fanatic and has some very unique problems. She obviously would eliminate cabbage or broccoli because they have heads. She would eliminate almost all root vegetables because they have eyes. She automatically eliminates sources of calcium with her choices. Being a total fruitarian is highly contraindicated for diabetics because of the amount of natural sugar in fruits. I do hope this woman is still alive with her non+ food choices.

Hi friend
She has made u panic regarding food. On one hand she may be correct but, on the other everyone cannot follow her diet. You can have as you like but the quantity should be the minimum so that you can burn them to calories and use them up fully.

She is right but it is impractical to follow her advice. Foods for diabetics are classified thus
1)skin and seeds only --like beans lentils chillies ets , can be eaten in unlimited quantities.
2)Skin and flesh - like cucumbers, gourds egg plant allowed in unlimited quantities
3)One one layred - like leafy vegetables, cabbage, cauliflowers, spinach, allowed in unlimited quantitis
4)Only seeds like pulses and oil seeds allowed in good quantities but limited.
5)Only flesh and no seeds --like mango, banana, meat etc not allowed at all.
The theory behind this is that Diabetes is caused by evolution.
Quadrupeds like cow eat raw foods like cellulose and have a normal glucose readings as 25-30 mgs/dl of blood.
Apes which eat only primitive food and naturally don`t gain weight have blood glucose ranges between 50 -60 mg s/dl.
Humans have normal of 70 mg/dl of blood.
Diabetics - eat drink and sleep have ranges far beyond.
The theory is well received but impractical because if everyone human being shifts to vegetarian food for one week , vegetables become prohibitively costly.
