A blood glucose reading of 23 is not compatible with life. The fact that you could remain conscious long enough to write this indicates to me that a: you didn't make sure the monitor was calibrated before you started the test b: you used the wrong reagent strips c: this is a hoax. I suspect "c".
Either way, if you have "an eating disorder" so bad that usually you know your potassium is low, then you know you are killing yourself, anyway. So why get worried if your blood sugar is out of whack; why would it bother you? Only you can seek the help you need; nobody is going to drag you into therapy.

That is terribly low. You may be hypogylcemic- which is a precursor to diabetes some times. You need to monitor your sugars more often & see if this is a norm for you. Keep candy with you at all times. Seek help for you eating disorder because you could die if your sugar bottoms out. Your body needs food to survive. If anything, go on a low carb diet if you must "restrict" yourself. Maybe you could contact the Dr. Phil show about your eating disorder because it sounds like it is serious. You do a lot of damage to your body when you don't give it what it requires to function properly. When you don't get enough calcium, for example, your body robs your bones for it. Your heart needs potassium to beat. If your potassium is too low, your heart could stop.
Good luck, please get help!!!

ok i agree with most of these answers. if your in the USA this is a very low blood sugar. however, meters are not prgramed to every individual person, so this number could be very accurate. The best thing to do when you are this low is to drink OJ or apple juice. juice is a fast acting sugar and will help raise your blood sugar fast. then you need to eat something with carbs and protein, like crackers and peanut butter. You should be seeing a dietitian if you are struggling with disordered eating, and let them know that you had a severe low blodd sugar due to your restrictions. Like mentioned before 23 is near death, its very rare that people are still awake at a 23 blood sugar.

I think you would be dead if your blood sugar was 23. More likely you didn't get enough blood on the testing strip. But you should go to the library and read up on anorexia nervosa and find out why you are doing this. It is not about eating or weight. It is about having control and being in control of something (food). It is a very serious disorder that can kill you (esp. the potassium swings are hard on the heart).

You need to get to er fast or call ambulance that is too low you can go into shock!!! I am surprised you can type!
it should be around 80-100
also if his moniter has been setting a long time there are two small bottles one is for low reading one is for high you add a drop on a test strip and another for the other if it is in their ranges it is working right.

Yes, that is low.Normal glucose levels fall between 70 and 150 mg. Levels typically are lower in the morning, and rise after meals. Drink some orange juice and eat some peanut butter crackers. Wait a while, then check it again, if it is still low go to the doctor, you do not want to start seizing.

23 is dangerously low - you could go into a coma. get something in you now. preferably protein but at least some orange juice or honey and if you haven't already get help with your eating disorder. Good luck (oh yeah - normal blood sugar is between 70 and 110)

your sugar was WAY TOO LOW!
I get weak and shaky when my sugar gets into the 60's. I have hypoglycemia. My sugar mostly drops when I am just too busy at work and dont get around to eating.
There are other ways to get attention besides the whole "eating disorder" thing. See a couselor and go to a damn buffet for lunck and stay through dinner.

Too low to be sitting there and not going to the doctor. If you have an eating disorder, then you need to have some help. Don't delay, you can not survive if you keep doing this. Go to your doctor or er.
