Milk and eggs definately hurt animals through the commercial process used.
Milk:
All bulls, free martins and excess calves are killed at about 1 week old
Artificial insemination of cows every year rather than the natural 3-5 years causes lamness, prolapses, weakness, pressure on all the organs.
Caging and carousels mean there is limited chance of husbandry checks
Cows killed at 7 years old rather than the natural 20
Artificial feeds made with dead animals, inc fish, pork, beef, sheep.
eggs:
20% of the hen laying population will be slaughtered every year.
killed at 2 years old rather than a natural 10 years
98% of cockerals killed as soon as they are sexed.
Awful, truely awful, conditions that even free range hens are kept in.
honey, beeswax.
both require the death of many bees as they are smoked out of the hive. The queen is killed regualrly to encourage the worker production
Using these products from commercial sources defiinately makes the consumer directly responsible for the death of those animals. Not saying its right or wrong, but people need to be aware of whats done in thier name and either accept it or do something about it. But not deny it.
The list of issues goes on, but its certainly not true that it doesn't hurt the animal to make it
visiting true commercial farms should be part of everyones education.

Because they choose not to. Don't assume it doesn't hurt the animals. Think about how those animals might be caged, etc. just so the dairy industry can make money. They're not all happily running around in fields of wheat. Many are crowded into unnaturally small spaces and fed supplements and other things they wouldn't normally eat. I'm not even vegan and that makes sense to me. I don't know much about bees, but I do believe vegans might eat honey, as bees are an insect... not an animal. I could be wrong. But for many of the animals we get our dairy products from, the conditions under which they are living is in many cases less than desirable or natural.

Veganism (also strict or pure vegetarianism) is a philosophy and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals and animal derived products, for food, clothing, or any other similar purpose.Vegans do not use or consume animal products of any kind. The most popular reasons for becoming a vegan are moral issues concerning animal rights, the environment, or human health, and spiritual or religious concerns. Of particular concern are the practices involved in factory farming and animal testing, and the intensive use of land and other resources required for animal farming.

If by the "anything dyed red," you are referring to carmine, the insects are crushed to make the carmine--just the ick factor alone would make you want to phase that out of your diet (as it appears in some foods) and makeup choices. FD&C Red Dye 40, by the way, is from coal, so it's vegan, but also harmful.
Others have already told you about the harm caused by milk and eggs. You can go to www.cok.net to find out more about how horrible the egg industry is.

have you watched 'meet your meat' on you tube? It shows you a little slice of what goes on in the egg and dairy industries as well as meat.
