I am having pot luck lunch with my sunday bible class people at my home this sunday. They are all senior white Americans. I am planning to prepare - 1) Pilaf rice 2) Curry pork 3) Fried chow mien.
Do you think they will like the dishes? Any suggestions? Thanks.

They may or may not like those dishes - I am into many different types of foods, but the people I work with are middle aged caucasians who WILL NOT try anything "abnormal." I try to go with something "safe" like Tastefully Simple's beer bread mix with a couple different dips, and also a cheese/cracker tray.
But if you make the foods somewhat mild, you should be fine. Too bad I was there for your potluck, as your food sounds delicious!

Meatballs in a crock pot works really well. I have taken this to several parties and it is always a hit. I usually take some crusty rolls in a basket to place beside the meatballs. Be sure you brown the meatballs well before you put them in the sauce to keep them firm.

Go with your menu! I learned this the hard way. When I'd cook for my parents my mother said "no onions, no garlic, no spices, your dad can't handle them." After my mother passed I accidentally cooked something with onions, garlic, and spices. I apologized but my dad said "Are you kidding? I love this! I haven't had onions/garlic/spices in ages!"
Just because they're older doesn't mean they've lost their taste buds. In fact, they may want to be adventurous after all the bland food they've had for years.

Sounds delightful, but watch out for fried and seniors. They don't do well together. Brownies are always a hit, too.

not sure they'll love the curry or the chow mein, but since they sound great, just make sure they aren't too spicy.
