I am a 30 year-old female. Not overweight. No history of heart disease in family. Ex-smoker, ex-binge drinker in my 20's. Now lead healthy lifestyle.
Have weird pains in my chest or stomach. I am not sure which - kind of just where the bra sits under boobs. Dull, heavy pain.
Have had chest pains on and off for a year. Get clammy and panicky when the pains start.
Been to a few docs. Had numerous EKG's, thorough blood tests etc. Am apparently very healthy.
Every doc seems to think it is psychosomatic as I have previously suffered from quite severe anxiety/somatoform (hypochondria) disorders.
Maybe my response level panic is high, but the pain is REAL and quite annoying/scary as well as actually quite painful.
Do any other women get chest pains before your period? I am now monitoring to see if it usually happens around that time of the month or not?
Has anyone experienced this kind of thing? How worried should I be?
Don't advise me to go to a doc, because I am going next week.

Your chest pains might be due to anxiety attacks, heartburn, and even gallstones. Anxiety is exhibited with cold, clammy sweaty palsms with SOBand even chest pains. I'm sure the doctors did an EKG when you had the chest pains. Now they have a base line. And for subsequesnt EKG; they will be able to compare them and evaluate for any changes. to determine any cardiac ischemia.

Another possible cause for this pain that you might consider is IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. No, chest pains are usually not correlated with menstruation Although stress, anxietry, headaches and other PMS symptoms. like mood swings and bloating.and water retention. are.

I had some similar symptoms (chest pains, anxiety). It seems every time I got the pains it caused a panic attack in turn making the pains worse. I thought evert doctor I saw thought I was a nut. A few doctors thought it may have been costrocondritis, have you been checked for that? That is usually cleared up with anti inflamatory meds. After about 18 months of numerous doctors and ER visits I caught a cold. I went to my primary care doctor who thought my gallbladder had flared up. He sent me to the ER for an ultrasound. While waiting for test results, I went into heart failure. Thank god I had seen a cardiologist who had ekgs and echocariograms to compare with. I ended up with a contion called viral myocarditis. This condion is a viral infection that attacked my heart. That being said this condition is VERY VERY rare. But I would advise you to see a cardiologist if you have'nt especially if you have had a cold prior to the episods of chest pain. Make sure you tell any doctor you see if you have had a cold, it could mean something. Good luck to you.

I had pain of the sort you describe. Doctors thought it was GERD for awhile. Then, I had a severe attack of the pain in the middle of the night. I was eventually diagnosed with Coronary Artery Spasm. It mimics a heart attack. The only way to tell that it isn't a heart attack is to go to the emergency room & get hooked up to a monitor. Now, I take isosorbide & carry nitro with me everywhere I go. Good Luck & Blessings

You need not worry. It could possibly be some gastric problem. When it occurs next, lie down on the left side of your body.for some time. The pain will reduce if it was caused by gases.
