You can't get a STD from someone who doesn't have any. STD are infectious diseases caused by bacteria or viruses, and they don't materialise from thin air. You have to contract the infection to get the disease.
However, make SURE that you know what STD are, how they are transmitted, and most of all how you and your partner should be properly tested to make sure that you both are free from them.
No symptoms DOESN'T MEAN no infection.

No you won't get STD from someone who doesn't have one.

However the word Yet bothers me..... It makes it sound like you Are going to wind up getting one. You really need to access your priorities, sex is no the be all end all that the media would have you believe. Yes we have a sex drive but that does not mean you have to act upon it.

As long as you are not in a long term monogamous relationship Always Use Safe Sex! Or no sex at all. It's that simple...

If neither of you have an STD or cold sores then technically no, you can't ... however the question remains how can you be sure that either of you don't have an STD? 80% of people that carry genital herpes for example are completely unaware that they have the virus because they have little or no symptoms.

Practise safe sex.

Both you and your partner might not know if you do have one. Some Std's can take a while before they show up on a test. I would reguarly see your gyn for pap test. Im not saying that you do but even if you or your partner only had one other there is still a chance.

You can't get and STD from somebody who *doesn't* have one, but you can certainly get one from somebody who doesn't THINK they have one - a lot of the most common ones don't always show symptoms, even though they're sitting there doing damage.

Oh, and there's some random exceptions like you can get genital herpes from recieving oral sex from somebody with cold sores...

Just use protection! You can never trust anyone these days.
