Lots of communities do that. And I believe it should be the norm.
I think A LOT more people would recycle if they didn't have to go out of their way to do it. If it were just as simple as putting it out on your curb once a week, I think if some sort of statistics would show the amount being recycled in towns that pick up recycle containers as opposed to what's being recycled where they do not, I believe there would be a HUGE difference....you'd think someone would get a clue..

YES! My county gives us the green recycling bin, but they are very limited in what they take. For example, they'll take No1 and 2 plastic, but not the other kinds. Where I grew up in Germany, we were given a large clear plastic bags for our plastics, containers for glass, metal and paper and a black bin for anything that didn't fit the recyclable categories. If you didn't sort it right, it didn't get picked up and there are no open landfills you can just drive to and dump your trash. I think this is the way it should be here and as much as people complain, it's for the greater good and after doing it for a while, it just becomes second nature and it feels great! Oh, we also composted food scraps and I do that to this day. Another good recycling idea is to pool within your neighborhood, like one day a week one person takes everyone's cardboard to the recycling plant. This encourages people to recycle and everyone only has to go every few months AND it saves gas!!!

I always thought they did that everywhere as well. I am from California originally and we had the different colored trash can for grass clippings and stuff and then bins for plastic, paper and cans and it was really cool and easy. I now live in a small town (very small) in Missouri in the rural outskirts and we do not have that here in my town or any of the surrounding towns or anywhere in my county. I was very disappointed about this. The closest we get is a city wide clean up and this clean up does not cover rural areas like where I live. In the whole county I have found one recycling place and it only takes cans and steel and car batteries, no plastic or paper or glass. Its very disappointing.

Where I live they used to pick up trash twice a week. Then about five years ago they gave us one of those green trash bins to go with are existing black bin and started sending two trucks around once a week.
I have family in Europe and they have three trash bins; one black for regular trash, a brown one for plant waste and a green bin for recycle.
We still don't have recycle at curbside for glass and plastic grocery bags but we just take them to Walmart and put them in the recycle bins there.

A lot of places do just that. They give you several different containers other than just your garbage can and there is a specific day of the week to set those containers out!
One for glass, one for paper and one for cans!
EVery place every where should do it!

Many communities have that. Everywhere in my county does. That's the kind of thing environmentalists are pushing for everywhere. So the question is why is your town so far behind. You should look into it because you sound like somebody who is on the ball.

It relies upon on the place one lives. In rural areas. human beings in lots of circumstances ought to postpone their very own rubbish in spite of the undeniable fact that they are able to. interior the suburbs and the cities, there are regulare rubbish disposal pickups. in spite of the undeniable fact that, those pickups won't comprise recycling.
