It depends on the public place. I am not a smoker but if I am in an open outdoor area where I can maneuver away from it I don't mind if someone smoking. However, I do not like when smokers drop their butts on the ground. I see it in traffic, at parks and the beach it's litter and adds up.
Close din public spaces, no way.

No. Where I live there is a law already that states no smoking in public places (includes bars, night clubs etc). And it's wonderful.

I love how smokers will say "if you don't like it walk away." How about, you're the one being nasty, stinking up the place, and ruining mine, yours and everyone else around you's health. So if you want to smoke "go find a place" and stay out of public areas. We don't need to smell you or get sick because of your bad habit.

No I am a Smoker and think it is a VERY nasty habit!!! The Worst part about smokeing in Public is that Most ppl do not Watch where there hand is With the Cig. I have seen many ppl hold there cig. Down by a child or touch another person With it Due to not watchign what they are doing !!

If there is good ventalation, YES. Remember, the taxes on tobacco pay for a good chunk of health care... cheaper than psychiatry, better than a nervous breakdown! (funny, isn't it, how it's such a BIG DEAL here in America, yet all over the world it's accepted as a normal part of life.) I say Americans are simply too picky about everything.

No..it bothers others who dont & get nauseated by the smell. If u wanna smoke, then smoke @ ur place w/o creating breathing probs for others. Smoking should be banned from public places.

Indoors, no way. Outdoors with plenty of recepticals for the butts, and smokers:
Do Not Leave Your butts In The Sand At Public Beachs, YUCKY to step ON !

Yeah. I'm not a smoker, but I don't mind it.

I HAVE smoked before, a few times, and when I was, I wanted to do it indoors, but couldn't.

No. I am allergic to cigarette smoke. It infringes on others rights when someone smokes in public.

No. I used to smoke and though I don't mind being around it, cigarette smoke is no good for anyone to be around.

And cigars should be utterly and completely banned. Feh.

Absolutely not, because then everyone would be forced to inhale second hand smoke, and smell like the stinky cigarette smoke.
