I've missed one day, school started on September 4th so far. You can see my symptoms here or what I think I have: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=An9qYRvTF9DeDmH2bVpatRvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070923184133AAWtJxZ.
Here are my symptoms:

Random fits of coughing
Periodic Dehydration
Raw throat
Hard to breathe
Heat/Coldness fluctuations, however, not extreme
Around 100F fever (My norm is 97.6)
Drowsiness
Mild Headache

I tried the chicken noodle soup, resting, and warm salt water, all helped to a degree but I still feel quite awful, I feel worse however in the beginning of the day/morning so right before bed like now I feel my best, I shudder to think what I'll be like tomorrow morning... my mom thinks on the financial side of things and not my health, even saying that I won't miss school until December or January no matter how sick I am. Please help a teen out!

Thanks!

Yours Truly

(Sick) Sam

Nevermind I guess, I talked to my mom about it and she got furious and gave me a glare and then poked at me and went "too bad, you're going to school tomorrow, I can't afford a doctor" and grinned in a nasty way and left my room.

If you feel good enough to sit up and write on the computer you should be ok to go to school. I have been sick with nemonia before and didn't miss a day. I didn't wine about it and after 2 months of my coughing cotinually getting worse my mom brought me to the doctor (on a weekend) and she said I had nemonia. your cold will go away don't worry about it.

read some jokes, have some fun, and laugh. it sounds wierd but being happy actually helps your immune system more powerful than normal. try to just stay cool, literally, and don't give in because your body is confused and if you stay warm, your fever will only get worse. i had something similar, just drink some fruit juice and say out from under blankets.

hope you get better soon cuz it sucks to be sick.

It sounds to me like you need to go see a doctor. Schedule an appointment to get checked out, after school if possible. Then follow the doctor's suggestions.

you need to see a dr. and i can't imagine that anything would be financially more important than your health. you could develop serious infection left untreated. antibiotics only $4 i got last week (no insurance) and she can call and ask the dr to give a prescription without seeing you (many Dr. will if you have no insurance). otherwise try drinking losts of high acid for the raw throat (OJ, grapefruit juice, green grapes, vinegar if you can stomach it) bacterias can't grow in high acid environment, keep treating every hour.

It sounds like you could have a cold/ or bronchitis depending on if your coughing up stuff. Also if this tends to happen alot sometimes people with underlying asthma can start coughing due to a cold, exercising, and allergies.

Go to school and see a school nurse. She'll let your mother know if you need to see a doctor.
