We're planning to have it on November 3rd and we're trying to get them in the mail by the end of this week. Is that too late? too early? or just enough time?

i would send it 2 weeks before the date... that way you let people know that its in 2 weeks and so they wont forget because with one month in advance people tend to forget....
like that it gives you one week so you can get a hold of them and call them.... like that its a constant reminder.... and since they got the invitation 1 week ago that would be perfect...

You might be sending them out a little early, but I would go ahead anyway. Since the date is so close to Halloween, you want your invitation to arrive before anyone makes plans to go to a Halloween party,
