christian beliefs were taken from pagan beliefs in one form or another, even if christianity made its way by saying that anything pagan was heretical. They derived a lot of their holidays from pagan holidays etc...all you have to do is educate yourself the sources are limitless. Christianity was structured from paganism, the what to do' the what not to do's, some of the stories are similar and the christian holidays.

i vaguely asked my question because it was easier to state the question that way. It has nothing to do with my intelligence nor does it have anything to do with my beliefs. I never clearly stated what religion I believe. Why are you getting defensive? Yes I have done a lot of research on paganism and christianity. I wouldn't have asked the question if I hadn't. Stop assuming anything because your putting the A S S in the word assume.

i consider myself a solitary witch/wiccan.... for those of you who are wondering. I don't like for people to assume anything about my questions in order to pass judgement on me especially considering I didn't even clearly state what religion I was.

Don't EVEN get me started on that score.... The documentation is overwhelming even if many Christians will not consider it valid....
Just one set of examples is in this essay by a fellow Hellenic Polytheist titled "The Ivy-Covered Cross" where he details similarities in the stories of Dionysus and Jesus (the stories of Dionysus being an average of 400 years older than the ones about Jesus) http://www.winterscapes.com/sannion/ivy_cross.htm

The problem with asking why Christians are against Pagans is a blanket question. You did the common most misapplied way of asking a question. You lumped all Christians into a common pot or denominator and then lumped all Pagans into a common pot or denominator.
Your thinking is flawed along with a flawed question. If it's commonly thought Christians don't like Pagans because of what you have read then you obviously reached the conclusion this is a class of haters? If you took the time to research Pagan and Christian holidays, traditions, etc. you know Christians took many Pagan events and turned them into "Christian Events".
Did you research the evolution of Christianity too? Actually it is nothing Jesus taught. Jesus taught faith and truth. The Catholic Church taught religion using Jesus as a basis for their exclusive club of believers. Religion is a man made club and faith is a Jesus taught truth.
I have many friends who are Wiccan, Pagan, Agnostic, etc. and they are good people. As a minister I regret most people take the common concept of any religion. I have a lot more trouble handling the TV preachers than I do any Pagan I've ever met. However it is not my place to judge anyone. I'm positive God can handle that without my help.

It is Christendom, that u r speaking of.
Those that claim the title 'Christian' and yet,
they r Far removed from
the Christ & his God & heavenly Father,
YHWH aka Jehovah.
True Christians Do Not Do This.
Keeping your worship pure, is up to you.
U r right again, they do not educate themselves.
The blind leading the blind;
and they both will fall into a pit.
But, many just follow along w/ what they r taught,
w/out ever checking / looking / reading / researching
for themselves.
Again, yes the resourses are limitless.
I did my research @ my public library.
After hearing on a public radio station,
that God has a personal name.
Then 1 day it dawned on me....
Jehovah- the God;
Witness- telling what u know.
The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses'
are no part of Christendom.
This is 1 of the many reasons,
why ppl., in general & members of Christendom;
hate them so very much.
We denounce such wicked practices.(openly & actively)
J's W's practice a faith of 1st century Christianity,
b4 the apostasy came.
This is what u r speaking of.
The polluting of the Christian faith--apostasy.
If u'd like to learn more about true Christianity,
u can go to ur local Kingdom Hall or
contact them in Brooklyn.
Or go to www.
watchtower.
org
Even just going to check it out,
won't make ur tongue snap off it's roller,
or ur eyes leave their sockets.
Ur jaw may drop, & ur eyes pop! out.
But, u'll be o.k., promise.
I have to type the URL this way,
bc alot of the time, Y/A's doesn't allow them.
Not even for listing ur sources.

With regard to J/W you were created by a man and are basically a cult. My mother is a J/W and hasn't talked to me in years because I refuse to give up my birth right. We are hereditary witches. She turned to your made up religion to save herself from a divorce. Your bible is a mismatch of what your creator wanted you to read. Do as I say not as I do.
With reference to the bible it may be a good reference for a Christian to live their lives by but by no means should they take it as factual. It was not written by Jesus by by man years and years and years after death, and who's to say what it really says threw all the translations and omissions. The men in the church decide what is in the book what if they didn't like some of the passages?, what about the Dead Sea Scrolls?
For me if Jesus was real he was a Mystic, some people believe he was an Essine. Wouldn't that blow some minds if he was one of us!

You have a point about the holidays, that's why I do not like them. I do not observe them. In fact I hate them. I hate how my family celebrates them and know nothing about God at all. But it's up to them to see that as a serious problem, they don't so they have Christmas without me around. I like it that way.
As far as you doing what you do, have at it. I really don't care. So I have nothing against you if you want to be a pagan. All I can do is defend my faith, the same as you defend yours.
I am not against your beliefs. And I don't want them at the same time.

Don't take too much stock in what Christians have to say. They stole their religion from the Jews along with the messiah. They stole everyone else's religion to make it theirs and then murdered everyone that spoke against them. The church killed or had killed the original church of Jerusalem because they would not accept the creed of 325 CE and Christians would still like to murder everyone that does not believe as they do. Fundamentalists are some of the most vicious people you could ever have the misfortune to meet. The USA would be a much better place to live without Christianity trying to rewrite history every election.

You are correct in saying many of our holidays were former pagan ones. The reason for this was the former pagans who turned Christian did not want to give up their holidays SO the Christians put Bible type holidays OVER theirs. We all know Jesus was not born on Dec 25th and so on.
But we did not get our beliefs from Pagans. We are taught to only worship the God of the bible and not nature that this is a sin.
God bless

Unfortunately, your statement is not far from the truth. Many religions today have adopted things that are considered pagan in the eyes of God.
Yet, not all. There are some that exist that believe only the Word of God and do not add or take away from it. It is the evilness of men and their love for sin that moves men from God.
They create doctrines that exempt them from the truth of God's Word by changing the Word of God to appease the flesh. Such as homosexuality. It is sin according to the Word of God, yet you have denominations accepting it, not condemning it. They make it acceptable by making interpretation support their very stance. Yet, they only lie to themselves and deceive those who look to them for spiritual guidance.
Don't give up on the faith because the most of the world religions have become corrupted. Trust in God only. He will lead you into all truth if you believe.
As for the faith being fashioned after paganism, that is not true. Modern religions are, but the faith in the beginning was pure. The Churches were all in one accord, believing the same things.
When men began to corrupt the Word of God by adding to it and taking from it, that is when you began to see the many different denominations we have today.
It all stems from the corruption of the Word of God.
Men try to complicate the simplicity of God. God does not make it difficult to understand him by being complicated. Men using philosophy and theology try to learn their way to the Father by dissecting and analyzing the Word. Yet, they will not understand God because he will only reveal himself to those who come to him with a submissive heart.
A man who is of the flesh, not born again cannot understand things that are spiritual in nature. And that is what most of the world who claim to be believers do.
Unless a man is born again, he will not know God. A man must be born again to enter the kingdom of God. And only when a man enters that kingdom will he come to know God. For God will reveal himself to him.

Acts 11:26, And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. If I could make a suggestion it would be to read the Bible before making claims. The word Easter is a pagan name, The passover came first, read your bible, Christmas, From the very first night Jesus was born his life was celebrated, does the wise men ring a bell, Read your Bible, stop listening to all these people who want you to join them in darkness someday, Jesus died for you on the cross, our sins seperate us from God, Jesus came and washed away our sins, his blood on the cross was an atonement for sin. Have you ever been saved, have you ever felt the Holy Spirit touch your heart in a way that you new something supernatural had happened. God was trying to show you something, you can accept him right here and now, just say this sinners prayer believing, just say, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!
