I had a big box of tapes with good music on them, but I no longer have a cassette player.
I joined a local "freeshare" group on Yahoo! and posted them there. Some guy came and took the whole box. There are folks who still play music tapes.

i've got have been given a bunch of cassette tapes I save for one among my Harleys. It has a cassette participant and the conversion to CD is over $1000. i'm going to easily save it how this is. No 8 tracks or 4 tracks or reel to reels.

Check out if a school for the blind in your area can use your tapes. I once volunteered at a (poorly funded) school for the blind, and they would reuse old cassette tapes.

•You could sell/donate them to a local CD store.
•Have a garage sale with a box of your tapes for under $1

If they are still working donate them to local charities or a residential home for older people.
