I have just finished the book Skinny ***** and was really surprised by what I read. I have been trying to change my diet but am finding it difficult where to start as I have a 22 month old son and am breastfeeding my 4 month old son. I need some ideas on what are basics for my store cupboard and what I need to include in this sort of diet for my little ones. Does anyone know of a good meal planner I can get hold of or just some good ideas on where to start.

Skinny B!tch has the meal-planner guide, although it isn't geared toward lactating women.

Dreena Burton's "Vive Le Vegan" has tips on a vegan diet for pregnant women and kids up to age 18.

www.vegweb.com has tons of recipes.

If you Google, you might find tips on being a vegan mom.

keeping your cupboards full with various beans, grains, and legumes is a good start. pinto beans are very handy for a quick meal (with tortillas and salsa) and are an excellent source of both protein and iron. quinoa is a great, versatile food that can be substituted for rice in any meal. i usually hit up the bulk aisle at my local health food store and stock up on these foods and others, including lima beans, navy beans, textured vegetable protein (TVP), etc.

stock up on lots of fresh fruits and veggies also. most kids LOVE fruits. it's a bit tougher to get some kids used to vegetables. variety is the key, especially if your 22-month old is a picky eater, as most kids are. i was worried about my 3 year old son not eating enough veggies, but he's been really good about eating all his greens. he actually picked kale over this nice veggie rib sandwich my husband and i were eating the other day for dinner... that was a surprise!

"raising vegan children in a non-vegan world" by erin pavlina (founder, vegfamily.com) is an awesome book, full of resources and guides on what your young ones' daily requirements are.

an awesome site for recipes is http://www.vegweb.com.

best wishes! :)

The BBC food website has some wonderful recipes and a meal planner on the site for vegetarian meals. The food tastes delicious, especially the Passionate strawberry crush (http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/passionatestrawberry_67931.shtml)

Bake lined for 35 minutes at 325 do away with cover and bake an added 40 5 minutes. is going nicely with mashed potatoes and gravy. and any eco-friendly vegetable.

fruit grows on woods or vines and fresh vegetables grow in the earth.
