Well if you visit the USA, I think you'd be OK with most American dishes and drinks. Our tap water is safe in all states. Spices vary quite a lot from region to region. Texas and New York are different than the South. Here in California - as is true in with the whole - everything under the sun is available. The mixing of cultures is very big, and real authentic food from everywhere, even Brazil - is available also. You could have Chinese/New England chowder, or any mix you can think of.
Drinking is something Americans really enjoy.
What by name dishes depends on where your visiting. Too difficult to guess, or randomly list.
BBQ in the South, fish in Seatle, clams in New England, ???????? Sorry, to much info to talk about.

I'm from Illinois - good ole USA, and here in the Chicago area, I would have to recommend a Chicago Hot Dog or a local Italian Beef. If you want great pizza though, go to New Haven, Connecticut or New York City!
Also - some Southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes, or some Louisiana Jambalaya would be really great too!
So you are from Brazil?
What do you recommend to me when I come to Brazil? I love all kinds of food! What are the best things to try there?

Pot Roast, corn-on-the-cob with lots of butter, White Castle burgers, fried pickles, Skyline Chili, a corn dog, Waffle House hashbrowns - scattered, smothered & covered, some Baskins-Robbins ice cream, an RC Cola & a banana cream Moonpie. and a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer!
And from my area, if you travel through Kentucky, you can taste genuine fried chicken (not KFC), Hot Browns, and a regional soda that'll knock yer socks off called "Ale 8 -1."
Hope you're gonna be around for a few months!!!

I am Brazilian, too, but I live in Virginia. You should try pancakes and waffle with maple syrup for breakfast; American barbecue (hamburger and hot dogs) for lunch; potato soup with bacon, carrots and a piece of garlic bread for dinner... I am getting hungry...

I have to cast my vote for a Chicago 'dog. I am a few hours out of the city, and have made the trip for a hotdog. Of course I forgot to ask if you have food restrictions!

Here in the "North Country" (near Canada in the US)
You must try Lutefisk (no actually, don't, it's worse than vegimite), Lefse, Torsk, and have a Brandy on me!
